since you got it from enjuku....id run a compression test and leakdown test. Theres been stories of their faulty sr motors. I personally havent had this experience but id hunt for blood if it ever happened to me. Just check it just because.
sorry just trying to help.

Without Further Ado...
Okay, I get the engine. First thoughts, could be cleaner. The valvecover looks tore up. But, I figure cosmetic damage, not that big a deal

Hmm...time to check out the other areas of the engine.
The first thing that becomes apparent is that engine seems to have suffered from a lot of corrosion. And I see a lot of residue of some kind of orange fluid. :-/

Now let's take a look at the Clutch, Flywheel, and Pressure Plate.
The color of these items reminds me of something. I just can't put my finger on it. Oh, that's right, it looks just like when my dog got sick and decided to shit diarrhea everywhere.

At this point I'd take a picture of the transmission harness. But...oh...that's right, I can't...because there isn't one.
Hmm...these transmission bolts look a little odd.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2034/1610479778_017f1e023c_b.jpg
What you say? They don't have uniform markings on them? Nope.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think these are the proper bolts that attach the bellhousing.
This is what I believe to be an OEM bolt.

Let's play a game. Which bolt doesn't belong?

Okay, since I have the valvecover off, let's inspect the valve train.
Mmmmm...nice and rusty. Just the way I like it.

Gee, looks like someone was messing around with the cams at one point in time as evidenced by the scoring on the camshafts.

Hmm...orange stains + removing the camshafts = I wonder what it could be.
Let's take a look at the sparkplugs, shall we?
A wise man once said, a look at the sparkplugs can give you a good indicator of the previous life on the engine.
#1 Sparkplug = Good
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2191/1609536839_4a469ee6c1_b.jpg
#2 Sparkplug. Running a little rich there, are we?
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2289/1610438928_030b297227_b.jpg
#3 Sparkplug. You can't tell from the picture but the tip of the plug was covered in grime and liquid.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2304/1610432680_bbb684f446_b.jpg
#4 Sparkplug. Fouled.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2212/1609556941_f51434a524_b.jpg
The liquid on the #3 sparkplug intrigued me. So I decided to take some shots of the cylinder through the sparkplug hole.
#1 Cylinder
http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l96/HalveBlue/1Cylinder.jpg
#2 Cylinder
http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l96/HalveBlue/2Cylinder.jpg
#3 Cylinder. Not the appearance of what looks like mercury in these pictures. This is noticably absent from the other cylinders.
Well I guess now I know where the fluid that was covering the sparkplug came from. :goyou:
http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l96/HalveBlue/3Cylinder.jpg
http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l96/HalveBlue/Closeupof3Cylinder.jpg
#4 Cylinder
http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l96/HalveBlue/4Cylinder.jpg
At this point I wonder how liquid in the #3 cylinder would affect the compression test that Enjuku supposedly performs on all their engines.
Then I decide to do my own leakdown test.
#1 Cylinder LDT (12%)
http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l96/HalveBlue/1CylinderLDT.jpg
#2 Cylinder LDT (5%)
http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l96/HalveBlue/2CylinderLDT2.jpg
#3 Cylinder LDT (65%-70%) Ouch! Although, at this point I'm not surprised.
http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l96/HalveBlue/3CylinderLDT.jpg
#4 Cylinder LDT (10%)
http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l96/HalveBlue/4CylinderLDT.jpg
So there you have it ladies and gentleman, the quality product delivered by Enjuku Racing.
I'm just glad I'm ordered from a reputable dealer and not some EBay scammer. I mean, I could have gotten a bad engine if I went with the latter. :Ownedd:
*Sorry for the size of the pictures.

It's been about a year since I installed my SR from Enjuku and it seems to be doing well. I definitely did a compression and leakdown test before I started driving it regularly though. Just me .02 cents.

i would recommend throwing in some good gear oil for the tranny. like redline MT90
front and rear main oil seals, check to see if oil pan is dented.
and lastly, is your BOV going to be recirculated? if its not, youre going to need some fuel management for that.

IMO don't use bkr7e-ix plugs just use the regular bkr7e. They are about $5 cheaper per plug and after having used both i found the bkr7e harder to foul out and are less likely to have the spark blown out by higher boost levels.

Make sure the oil pickup is in good condition.
