So i recently upgraded my brakes to the calipers and rotors from a infiniti j30. my dad took my car for a spin and comes back and is rolling like 10 mph and tells me to look at the wheels. then he taps on the brakes decently hard then lets go. And when he does that the wheels move forward. If any of you have any ideas and could help me out that would be great. and if you need me to explain something again just let me know or something that would help to find the reason of this doing it :naughty:

thanks, Brett

haha sorry that was kinda vague... but normally when you stop the front wheels stop at the same speed as the rest of the body...but when this happens the wheels sort of jump forward and then come back to the normal position...hope that helped

the wheels sort of jump forward and then come back to the normal position

is it kinda like a little jerk back to its original stopping position?

did it ever do it before with your other brakes?

They move foward... as in the caster is increasing maybe? If so check over your suspension, balljoint may be gone.

its kind of like a little jerk forwards and then it goes back to the original position:-/

but i donno if they did it with the other brakes didnt have them for long and didnt really try it =/

*edit*
yes as in the caster is increasing ...im thinking its my ball joint also... i recently bought some new lower control arms i should be putting them in later this week so ill update you guys when that is done but is there any other reason for that to be happening? im kinda a newb with brakes and rotors but i was told to over bored the rotors when i had them drilled because im running 4 lugs instead of 5's but was told to over bore them would that cause this or does it even matter?

I don't understand what you're talking about either,

but after you installed the new brakes, did you properly bed them in?

sounds like your traction/tension (forgot what they're called) rods are shot. common on these cars nearing 20 yr old status. if you don't know what to look at, look at the rod connecting to your lower control arm (connected with two nuts). they look like this.

check your control arm bushings too.

It was kinda hard to understand as well. So u are saying u are already stopped but the wheels still move forward? If so, that does sound like u need new tension rods like ^^ he said.

sorry its kinda hard to explain ill try to get a video up sometime tomorrow but im pretty sure its a bad ball joint because my dad who had worked for nissan for 30 years thinks the same thing. im just seeing if there is something else that could be causing it. just trying to make sure thanks for all the help

Yep, your tension rod bushings are shot

that happened to me when the bushing for the tension rod went bad. tension rods go for like $30 at junkyards

if your dad has 30yrs nissan experience (i dont think anyone in this thread could top that) and hes experiencing the problem first hand.

wouldnt you think he has a slight possibility on being right??

haha yes but he cant always look at my car and i was wondering if there was anything else that would make that happen. just in case when i put in the new lower control arm and it still happens he wont be there to check so i wanna know if there is anything else that would make that happen :sadwavey:

ok so i just ordered my new adjustable circuit sport tension rods and am waiting to get them in the mail and had another question about brakes.

So i have upgraded my front brakes to calipers and rotors from an infiniti j30 and was wondering if anyone knew if the (rota grid racing 17 x 7.5 +40/+45 4h x 114.3) would clear the j30 calipers and rotors? or if anyone knew where i could find this out?

Alright so i fixed the problem!! actually i fixed it about a week or two ago but forgot haha... so i bought new tension rods from circuit sports and just some oem lower control arms and it still had the same problem just not to the same extent so it turns out that the bolt connecting the power brace (where the tension rod connects not to the lca but the other end) was missing :eek3: ...so i went down to the pick a part and got the bolt from an old 300zx and bolted it in and drive down the street step on the brake and the feeling is gone and it feels amazing :rawk:

thanks all you guys who helped out!!

haha i didnt go there for the sole purpose to get a bolt...i went for other parts that my car is lacking and got the bolt off the 300 was because it was easier to get off
