UPDATE LAST PAGE
Hello there! I just got my new wheels. They look smashing if i can say it myself.
I have just one question. Are they to big?

My plan is to fit them with 225 tires and stretch them a little. So maybe it is just me being worried, but will this be okay? I am a little afraid the police wouldnt like my fitment very much.
The site who sold them to me said they would fit perfect on the wheel arches, and they had them self tried this on a s13. I have it all in writing, so i don't think it would be any problem returning them and getting 17x8,5 et-35
I think this will be dope when i stretch my tire over, but i am worried it will be an eyecatcher for the police. What do you mean?

I think they're gonna look baller. Just roll the fenders a bit and get some dori-dori camber going.
Fuck the po-lice comin' straight from tha underground....
But seriously, they can't ticket you for wheel fitment as far as I know. I could be wrong, however. Don't do anything illegal (i.e. street drifting, drag racing, etc) and you won't have anything to worry about. Keep it safe, man.

I agree with phantom, roll and flare the fenders and it will look sweet, you may need to get mudflaps to keep the police happy.
They will camber in when you get that shit off stock suspension.

Good point. You never told us what your suspension plans are for the car. You can't rock stock with baller wheels.
yeah, look like they'll tuck in nicely once you slam and camber a little bit... if not, newspaper roll it.

Yeah. i was aiming for dope ;)
I guess i have to stretch the wheel arches a little, and get som mudflaps.
I am using KONI RED for know. I got them with the car, and have not been able to change them to TEIN or something. i am at around 30mm lowering. When i get 225x45 tires on, it should look nice.
I will not be able to get - camber. The wheels are just a centimeter or two from the suspension :P
What do you mean with roll and flare? I am Norwegian, and are not familiar with your urban words :P

hotrodv is from italy and he tells us how strict the police about wheels sticking out past the fenders. your wheels will fit fine. however, if you plan to upgrade to 200sx (s14) brakes and 5lug hubs in the future. You may need to get a spacer of 1-1.5cm in thickness to clear the wider caliper/rotor brake combination. Good luck with the build it is coming out quite nice.

Thanks for great comments. Always nice to hear good things about your ideas :D
I have heard that the rear can get negative camber with lowering and alot of width on the wheels. Do you think i will get some problem with the suspension?

the only thing i can add to this is to run 215/35 tyres instead. makes clearence easier!

when your suspension compresses, it will naturally camber in. You will notice that when you lower your car onto the ground, the tops of the wheels will tuck in more than they are in the pics. You should be good with just rolling your fenders (flattening the seam on the inside lip of the wheel well).
What is that older car in the background with the chrome bumpers? got anymore pics?

eastcoastS14 (http://www.zilvia.net/f/member.php?u=50960). I am avare of this method, but i am afraid my paint will be destroyed. it is almost 20 years old!
Man! I need to get my tires on so i can test this! What should i do if the wheels touches the suspension? Will 215 tires instead of 225 make that much of a difference?
The problem is not in height, but in width. Will rolling and flaring make my wheel arches go further out?
I am not into amcars, but as far as i know the car in the back are an AMC something.

Start off by getting some 10-15mm spacers.
Next up front you could run 215/40R17 For maximum clearance, or run 215/45R17 for good tire to fender fitment.
IN the rear, You coul run your 225/45's or you could go a little wider and move to a 235/40 or 245/40 tire size.
If you dont want staggered tire sizes then 235/40 all around would be awsome. ive tried all of the above combinations and found the 235/40's all around to be my fave fitment and performance

I am not that big fan of spacers, and i dont really want the rims to come even further out.

17x9 +30 fronts will most likely give you problems with suspension clearance.
We have whole threads dedicated to wheel offsets and what does/doesn't fit.

I can tell you I have 18x9 +30mm wheels with 225/40 tires on the front of my S13. I am running a 15mm spacer to clear the suspension and make them more flush. Without the spacers, I couldn't them bolted up, let alone drive.
Maybe being an 1" smaller in diameter will help you here, but I wouldn't think so.

Beat me to it. I had a customer right as I got ready to type it up. You won't clear coilovers with a +30. 9j +15 with a 235/40 is probably close to perfect on stock fendered S13s.
+30 is pretty high i believe. make shure they clear coilover. u dont want any higher of a offset.
im running 17x8 and 9 with +24 and its a lil sunken on all 4.
225 45 17 front 255 40 17 rear.

What if i get some 17x8 +35 (maybe pluss a spacer?) with some 225x45 ine the front and keep the one i got now in the back? I have heard the size i got now will fit perfectly in the back.
Bushido
02-07-2008, 03:31 PM
don't go staggered, thats wack.
when i read that they were 17x9 -30 and then looked at the pics i was like :tweak:...
for stock body s13 on 17x9's you want to be around +10 - +15 for good fitment.
wheel clearance on the inside depends on your coilovers, but +30 is cutting it close... you want spacers anyway, because when you put it on the ground the wheels are going to be sunk.
my advice:
run 215/40's all around or 225/40 if you think thats too skinny. don't get a 45 series sidewall, it's too tall.
Hammer the fender lips in on the front and rear wells, don't worry about your old paint, if you take your time and use a little bit of heat the paint wont get too messed up.
if you add 20mm spacers you will only have to pull the rear fender less than 3 mm's, no big deal. lower the fender so that it touches the tire ans use a torque wrench handle or something similar and roll it over the tire, just like that video eastcoast posted. Or you can go the newspaper route if you like.
Blackparade

your going to have to because your wheels will not have enough backspaceing. Wether your a fan or not, your gonna have to use them at least in the front.

If you want to run 300zx wheels up front later on, the 17x8 +35's you were talking about will not clear the brakes. =30 in the rear will look gross! trust me, at least get down to +20, they will not stick out like you think they will.

It is illegal in every state to have wheels/tires that protrude out further than the fenders. It's also extremely disrespectful to other motorists (including other 240 owners) due to all of the rocks that you're going to be throwing at them, denting their hoods radiators and cracking their windshields.
While it's true it's not a very common ticket, many are still issued, the easy fix is to roll or more likely, add on fender flares, be respectful to other peoples rides! Keep your rocks in the wheel well! Or roll the dice on the cop pulling you over NOT being a dick >.>
EDIT: Just giving you a heads up, nice wheels though!

Yes, police over there in italy is stupid but even more our law about cars..
we can't choose tires size just use the size write on the cars paper..so lame..
the reason why I can use only 225/40/18 all around and not be able to go more wider than 10" wheels..
btw, don't change the wheels with something smaller, better make the car fit them if any issue on hitting..

ThatGuy needed the spacer because he was running coilovers. Spring/shock combos have more inner clearance. Since you don't have coilovers you'll probably be fine.
I say get tires on them, mount them and see if it clears. If your still worried about it, search the forums and make sure what your reading is about spring/strut combo and not coilovers. Good Luck

I was told to update this when i got tires.
I put them on today. 215x45x17 on 9x17 wheel, and i am quite happy with both the stretch and the camber, put i did not like it very much on the car.

The stretch
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v154/Niclas/200sx%20s13/4.jpg
The camber
I am also a little happy with how the front looks, but i don't now.. it is a little to small wheel, and my car is a little to high. Did not hit the suspension, but it was close! the spacer will take care of that!

I used to think my s13 was low, but it isn't :(
Do you think i should lower the car?
I would like my car to be this low all around:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v154/Niclas/200sx%20s13/3.jpg
Used a buddy to lower the car a second ;)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v154/Niclas/200sx%20s13/7.jpg
This is how much the wheel are sticking out from the chassis. Just perfect, but the car is so fucking high! I am planning on running 3mm spacer in front and 5 in the rear. pictures are taken without spacer and with wheels only on one side, so the hight of the car is not all correct.
What do you think the next stage should be? Lowering? Stick with it?
The next time i buy wheels i will buy 18"!!
Bah! This car is starting to cost me! ;P

215/45 all around, 215/40 in the front if you don't mind stagger
15mm spacers.
Good and pretty conservative, and will clear

oops, lol, just saw the update
Coilovers are designed differently, they will hit.
wheels will also tuck up under the body when you lower as well.
but yea, get coils. will probably need that 15mm spacer in the front for clearance. will look good.
CrimsonRockett
04-03-2008, 06:04 PM
+30 is a weak offset.
Like everybody else has stated, run a 10-15mm spacer all around and you'll be fine.
Here's the car we're currently building.
17x9 +15 215/45 fronts, 235/40 rears.
http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii246/CrimsonRockett/Brians%20S13/DSCN3557.jpg
http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii246/CrimsonRockett/Brians%20S13/DSCN3604.jpg
Keep in mind that the rear has ZERO camber. Front has about 3 degrees of camber. Once we lower and camber in the rear, it'll be stupid flush.

also, you're wheels will not look so small if you lower your car more. they look small because you have a large gap between your fender and tires. once you lower it, the gap will disappear, and the wheels will appear to fill the fender better.
