they sell ones that mount on the glass in your windshield and also little shorty universal ones. if you want you could leave the little shorty inside your fender where your jack goes, and you'll still get decent reception.

do you know a website that sells them by any chance?

i doubt there will be a spot you can place it where it wont be just as ugly. i think the point of shaving the antenna is to get a cleaner look. in an attempt to answer your question, though, i think the best place to relocate it would be inside the car somewhere in the rear deck close to the back window. hope that helps.

I hear that the "hidden" antennas that mount to the windshield suck as far as reception goes.. but i don't have any direct exp. with that kind. just what i've heard.
theres plenty of them out there, get one from ebay and try it out, they are pretty cheap.

i decided to go with a s200 antenna.
i got it from locustom.com (http://www.locustom.com/antennas.htm) a few years ago, as good reception as the stock mast.

my CL has an antenna on the rear window. it looks identical to the rear defroster, and the reception is excellent. i'm sure you could just use a patch antenna or any other sort of "hidden" antenna for decent reception.

i know i saw them at best buy. that's where i got the little shorty universal one, and i just put it behind the wall where the stock jack is.

Keep in mind that if you have a power antenna, you cannot change to an antenna like this
You need a non power antenna to begin with, to swap to this
Oh and I shaved my antenna hole. My radio was working without the antenna connected, but reception was weaker lol
Never got around to getting that glass antenna

I have put those Antennas(S2000) in 3 S13s. Stereos worked just fine in all of them. Better reception then any other car I have had.
I just bought a car with a shaved antenna, and I plan on putting one on that car also.

What do you mean? If you have a power antenna you cannot use an S2000 antenna? Ive owned 9 S13's and have never seen one where the antenna isnt power.

My antenna is "shaved", only loss of reception is on AM stations for me. I just left the cable kind of dangling in the rear body panel.
I would not relocate it anywhere, if i wanted better reception maybe lay down some sort of antenna or use the body or last resort tape one of those antennas to a window.
The main thing to remember here is that unless you listen to a lot of shaky radio stations, with no antenna you should have no problem picking up all of the big ones in your area.

^^^ yup, I had a power antenna in my S13, just shaved it and "left it" in the jack area of the rear fender. Get fine reception on the big stations, but don't really care either way. I'm sure a window mount will be fine, but yeah, the S2k antennas look nice.

Yeah I had my antenna unplugged from the head unit and i still got most of the main stations. Now my damned power antenna slider snapped, so motor spins, but antenna is a manual slider now untill i can buy the new kit for it :(

I shaved the antenna on my S14 and taped the stock pickup to the inside of the rear quarter. Got great reception unless I was trying to pick up a station that was 60 or so miles away. Duct tape is a beast, lasted almost 2 years before I had to put new tape.

i shaved my antenna on my s14 maybe three years ago. i laid it in the trunk under the carpet. i didnt really experience a huge loss of reception. done deal.

Isn't that the truth. We had some great radio stations including one with the Adam Corrola show and they reformatted the station to rap (you might like it, it's just not my thing) The ones that play rock/alternative music still are mostly commercials.
Back on topic... for the guy who used the s2000 antenna, does it just thread on or did you have to modify anything?

I think what Logan (Aspec) meant was that if you have a power antenna, you can't just unscrew the antenna off its base and screw on a s2000 antenna.
I have a s2000 antenna installed on my hatch too. Inorder to make it work, i had to buy the s2000 base and the antenna. The reception was actually better than the stock unit. Hope it clears things up. :2f2f:

Just takes like 10 min of wiring and looking at the FSM. and then its held in buy a piece that goes through the hole for the stock antenna and pretty much a nut on the bottom. I have bought them on Ebay for $30-40

When I did all the body work on my car, I shaved the antenna, rear wiper and rear spoiler. I ended up putting the antenna on the roof where the sprayer for the hatch was. Here is a pic where you can see it.

I took a basic manual (telescoping) antenna, put it up in the dash and pulled it appart up there till it had pressure on both ends, works fine and you can't see shit since its up in the dash.
put it in down the center consol in my other car....also working well.
