They're been around for literally years. I used their auction services back in 99-00 to buy a few things you couldn't get stateside, before the popularity of the idea and parts exploded. Now it's pretty pricey after paying the fees and there's plenty more sources that are cheaper, but as an another option I wouldn't dismiss it. The store idea is just an extension to move more product, not a bad idea.
I got an HKS EVC IV boost controller for $85 back then, when the ones here on Ebay were pulling $300+. Can't beat some of the deals if you have the time to surf through dozens of pages.

There's a few shops that will buy stuff off of Y!jp for you, i think MemoryFab is one of them.
You might be able to save cash that way if you can combine your shipping in a big box with someone else's stuff.
Like all these places that buy stuff off yahoo JP it's based on size so the only stuff worth getting are small items. Yahoo JP has pretty decent deals on gauges usually if you look around. You might find other stuff like used ganadors or something but I wouldn't use Rinkya for anything bigger than that. They rape you bad on large items.
I actually used them to get a head unit from JP cuz for whatever reason Americans don't like double DIN units. They're legit and professional.

www.jdm-wheels.com will apparently get things off Yahoo Japan for you as well. I had emailed them a while back and their rates were VERY reasonable, I personally have not used them though.
