Every member begins their Zilvia life with 10 rep points.
Rep points drive "rep power," which is how much you add/subtract to a member with positive or negative reputation, respectively.
You gain one point of rep power for a few situations:
Every calendar year you've been a member (you get one every January 1)
Every 1000 (one thousand) posts
Every 100 (one hundred) points of reputation you've received, you can find that total by clicking your "User CP (http://www.zilvia.net/f/usercp.php)"
Your "rep power" is displayed for all users to see like a huge (or VEEEEEERRRRRRY tiny weewee, depending on how you might view these things) as a number below your screen name on all your posts. Your rep power speaks directly to what you ADD with a positive rep to a user, and is approximately double what you take away, we round down on negatives...
When your rep is too low, your rep power is zero, you do not add or remove any points with a rep.
When you look upon your rep in your control panel, green is positive, red is negative and grey was impotent and had no effect, because the user's rep power was too low to offer a change. That happens to people in the negative or who have not yet earned rep power.
The greys are confusing sometimes, so one must use the verbiage that the user left with it to discern whether the intent was positive or negative:
Grey with no comment - they were TRYING to leave positive
Grey with comment - forum mandates that a comment be left with negative reputation
If there is a picture of titties or anything else NSFW, PM a moderator or admin, comment will be edited and user leaving comment handled directly.
No, we can NOT delete a reputation, be it positive or negative, we can only edit comments, and DO NOT ask us to change/remove comments because someone disagrees with you, only when what was left is against the rules.
No, we will NOT tell you who left you a comment for you to haul off and retaliate. If you want to see it, buy a premium membership or cross your fingers and hope that you're a moderator one day. No, it will never be mandatory to leave one's name when leaving reputation. Just as subjective as the system in general is, so is the option of whether or not to leave a name behind a rep left. Depends on what house your moon is in.
I REPEAT this thread is NOT here as a bitch and gripe session about negative reputation, as much as it is information as to what the system is and how it works, so we don't have new threads about it weekly.

...Your rep power speaks directly to what you ADD with a positive rep to a user, and is approximately one half of what you take away, we round down on negatives...
Just want to comment that there is a slight mis-wording in Phlip's explanation. When you neg-rep someone, the number of rep points you take away is equal to half of your rep power.
Example:
If your Rep Power is 100, and you posi-rep someone, they gain 100 rep points. If you neg-rep someone, they lose 50 points. Therefore your posi-reps have greater effect then your neg-reps.

Has ITrade completely replaced Reputation Counters?
I appologise if this was discussed elsewhere bu I assumed this section would have the details if anything, and I didn't see it, so I felt this be the most applicable place to post my question.

Actually, this has not been discussed in public forum, only in the Premium Members section and Mod Corner.
"Rep" had to be put down like Old Yeller. We can draw the metaphor of people abusing the system as the rabies that caused them to have to put the dog down. Only difference is that no one on the staff cried as we put it down...
Trader rating is a replacement of sorts, but I am not yet versed on exactly how it works, so please wait on the announcement/discussion. One of us will explain and clarify it.

i trade is cool. better than rep. it isnt fully working. the basics are you leave a itrade when you actually have a transaction with someone.

i cant give trader rating
Looks to me like you've had no problem giving or receiving it to and from one of your homies.
I am advising right now and VERY publicly, if people abuse this, we are banning. That is the only warning.

I remember posting info about a Aeromotive AFPR, answered the OP's question. That post got a neg rep by a socialist weiner kid who didn't like my signature.
I say good riddance. :bigok:

Maybe the "Deal thread URL" field in the "Submit Feedback" page should be mandatory instead of optional to prevent fake ratings.

+1
In addition, I always like to read how the seller deals with buyers, esp. when questions are asked.
*edit* ....and why a person got a neg.
Great move + rep for everyone involved.

That was an Error in the settings. It now is mandatory.

Agree, good riddance. Not more than 5 posts, I had some tool neg rep me because I had the money to buy a part he wanted, but couldn't afford. I called him on it, and he had his bud neg rep me. I was a noob (to zilvia) and had a very bad impression of the forum based on a few idiots that abused the rep system.
Good move.

so since we have this iTrader to look at know, couldn't the reviews forum(for users) be technically obsolete? I dunno just realized that.

the reviews forums is still a good location to provide more in-depth information on how a transaction went.

I had a similar thing happen to me and it also left a very bad taste in my mouth when I first joined the forum. The other thing that really soured me was dead-beat seller in the marketplace that lost me $300...
Trader rating is a fantastic replacement.... I applaud the staff for going in this direction, it will hopefully keep people from getting scammed the same way I did. :bigok:

I think its funny people are still crying about old neg rep even after the whole thing is gone....sheesh get the fuck over it people!

Glad it's gone. People bitched about neg rep to mods...
Like neg rep was the end of the world.

Keep in mind that now that rep is gone, we are without the means of telling dumbasses to shut their traps, so we must now say things a bit more succinctly, deleting posts and banning people.
After all the bitching about this whole episode, we're all on edge, anyone care to try me?

I was wondering the same thing.
As i noticed noone had permissions to view the itrader.
But this should limit the chaotic behavior on whos bad reppin people.
At least now, we can now deal with straight transactions across the board instead of lousy ass posts.
Not bad at all.

It seems that the trader ratings is limited to 1 review per 24hour period. What was the methodology behind this? I mean I understand you don't want people abusing it but I've got a cue of people that I want to leave reviews for stored in a text file and it's going to take me a week to get through it.... and I'm just the buyer in most of these.
I imagine that if I was parting out a car or cleaning our my garage, or even just someone who sold a lot of stuff I would quickly get to a point where I would be buying and selling at a faster pace than the review system would allow.
I could see maybe limiting to one review per day for the same person... so if I made a deal with Joe I could only leave him feed back once that day, and if we made another deal later in the day I'd have to wait until the next day to leave a review.
...just my 2 cents

I don't know what the limit is set to. I DO know that since they are set-up strictly for sales now, the number is, and will remain less than the old Rep stuff. We're still bouncing around ideas on how many to allow in a day, but don't expect it to become some magical unlimited number.

I agree. The limit should be higher. It should be limited to per person and not per day. Or you could at least set it higher temporarily so we can give the system a "running start" by letting people go back and rate previous transactions.

yeah I'm not using it for anything but sales interactions... it's a trader rating so I wouldn't expect it to be used for anything else (though I wouldn't put it past some people to just 1 up their buddies)
I agree with the "running start" bit, I've gone back and given a few of my more recent trades reviews.
