I really hope I didn't miss a really obvious thread that already explains this....

I'm looking for a source of really cheap Instant Gentleman front bumpers for 180SX... I'd like to have a couple on hand for highway trips, and driving events, so that I can keep the genuine one fresh.

I'm not going to implode if there's no such thing, but it'd be nice to know.:fruit:

Those pictures they use..and the cars in them look reallly fimiliar..Did they use to be a shop called hayaku racing or something ,based in san francisco or bay area. Im assuming thats them because they say all the pictures they use on the site are all theirs cars and cars they have worked on etc.

i personally know the owner of the fastback, herb, and from what he told me he is somewhat associated with onetongarage, so i dont see that as a problem.

Definitely going to get an authentic kit, there is 0 doubt about it.

Thing is, there are no tracks within the city, so I'd like to be able to put a knockoff on the front, drive out of down, flog the car and break the bumper, then drive home and still have a pristine Supermade bumper to hardpark with.

I just want some expendable copies.

tougemaster, lemme know what he wants for it, if he's willing to part with it. I don't think I'll do IG rear, I'm not a fan of it.

Would Supermade knock-off be called Sortamade?

I was thinking "BizarroMade" would be a good name for them.

LOL at all the different versions, like you say though if you do own a real one, having knock-off as spares makes lots of sense for track days and highway beatings.

The copies have already popped up in Japan so they'll probably be in the US soon.

If you are worried about breaking it, stay stock.

-_-

I swear, you people are just trying to find things to be unhappy about.

For the hell of it, I'll break it down as simple as possible:

1. I want the Supermade Instant Gentleman on my car because I like the styling.

2. I will buy a genuine bumper because I want to support the real company, as well as benefit from the higher quality.

3. I would like to know if someone makes knockoffs that I can use for activities where damage is likely, so that instead of damaging a whole new, very expensive Supermade bumper, I can damage an expendable stand-in. Call it a stunt double.

4. It's not important. Like I said in the very first post. If there are no cheap knockoffs, fine, I'll just use the genuine one all the time, and if I break it, I'll fix or replace it.

5. Also, just for you, S14DB, I don't have a stock bumper. my car has no front bumper at all.

Buy a stock bumper. Bolt it on when you crash and use the IG to hard park. Or run nothing at all to crash in, since you are running nothing now.

Yeah, I do see the sense in that, I get what you mean now.

I'd still rather have the car look consistent all the time though. Plus there's something satisfying about bumper damage.

However, yeah, worst case (no phony bumper for me), I'll just do one of the two things you mentioned: stock or no bumper, but only if the IG is really at risk.

What's cheap and dumb about genuine Instant Gentleman?

I honestly don't know where you're going with this anymore... I thought we understood each other, but now it looks you still think I'm trying to cop out of getting the real deal...

1) Dumb is Neg Repping me
2) Buying a knockoff is copping out of buying the real deal
3) Why are you asking about knock offs if you aren't going to buy one? If you are so vain that you car has to look perfect 24/7/365 then Buy 2. Buying 1 real one to buy one knockoff doesn't make it alright. You are still buying a knockoff.

Origin Lab's new Urban line might be something to look into.

Worried about breaking things?
Then stop driving it in a manner that would break things.

Roads too rough to drive a slammed S-Chassis with Aero?
Raise it up and don't run fiberglass aero.

Scared of slamming your aero/car into a wall while drifting?
Stop drifting. It's not a sport for cars to stay in pristine condition. It's like figure skating and ice hockey rolled into one. Slide for style points, but end up in the "Boards" every now and then.

Don't like how loud your car is?
Then don't strip the interior and slap on a cannister muffler just to drive around town.

Don't like your feet getting hot?
Don't run a screamer pipe and no carpet.

Don't want to be harassed by Cops and Refs?
Stop swapping in illegal engines.

These are just general rules that more people need to follow. Not just directed at you.

For you, firelizard, the best advice I can give you is...
Go build your car however you like. Stop arguing here about it, it's not going to accomplish anything anyway.
