I've always like Litestep but never really gave it a good chance since back in the windows 98 days it was a bit of a pain to use. Now of course there's object desktop, but I think litestep is still better than Object desktop as OD is just a skin while Lite Step changes the Shell for windows. anyway, what does your dekstop look like? This is what my comp at riverside looks like right now on XP sp2.
First pic is just desktop with the cursor over an open tab:
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c390/edaciousx/LiteStep1.jpg
Second picture is the "start" menu. all you gotta do is right click anywhere on the desktop and you got your start menu.
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c390/edaciousx/LiteStep2-1.jpg
Still getting used to the new Shell/UI. Show me what yours looks like!

How long does that take to boot? I remember I did something like that one time and it bogged down my comp so much.

Litestep doesn't take a long time at all.
It completely replaces explorer, so it's about the same boot time.
I ran it for maybe 3 yrs and got over it.
I still prefer Visual Styles with hacks over anything.

Right now I'm still rocking one of the images that came with Vista, but this used to be my desktop for a long time.

Also, I really like some of the Adult Swim desktops, you can find the bigger versions on their site.

Decided to just upload it instead of the one I posted. That's the biggest version I have.
By the way it's a time-lapse of an R32, a Miata, and a 180SX. :bigok:

ya, i don't think it works for vista. im not sure if it works for 64bit xp either. Lite step's pretty old school and the UI is different so you gotta get used to the new layout. Also, there's a lot of other advanced features. Actually, UI depends on the skin you download. http://www.litestep.net/
No, lite step doenst take too long to load, its about the same on this old 2.6ghz pentium 4 computer...
Im gonna check out visual styles.
Object Desktop is a good one i think i mentioned before. It's much more user friendly than lite step and has more support. Only thing is, it only does skins, not whole new UI.
