im not sure yet, i have some theories, but i broke my downpipe. cracked it all the way through. its a clean brake and now my car sounds like hell, with engine spit fire coming right out of the headers and destroying the ozone. The help i need is finding where to buy a new downpipe as basic as possible for a stock na engine, noting fancy. I just need one quick cause im bound to get pulled over for that loud has hellfire shit.
would they sell it at pepboys or discount auto part.

I'm going to assume ka24de. iirc they sell them on ebay. 2.5" with a flex joint. I had one on my ka-t for a while. The only thing I didn't like was the 2.5" diameter. Other than that no problems.

Yeah, if you just want the stock DP, just hit up a junk yard as that's a not so sought-after part.

I suggest cutting the flange off of the stock DP and having a skilled exhaust guy weld you a custom pipe, otherwise hit the junkyard and roll with it.

we dont know if it will work.
we dont know if it will work because we dont know what engine you're talking about
tell us what engine you have.
tell us what engine you have so we can answer your question.
if i had some sort of "spell it out by drawing pictures with crayons" program i would use it, but i dont. so read this REEEEEAAAALLLLYY slowly and then re-read it at least 3 times. THEN post a reply.
There is no need for this, he says clearly in his post that he has a 1996 KA.
He has also, as of the time of MY post, already bought it, so I guess it is now his problem to deal with when he receives it, HOWEVER, he should not have a problem as long as he has an S14 KA with an S14 KA exhaust manifold, or a bottom-mount SR....
Anything else and he'll be selling that thing soon enough.
And before anyone claims that he edited it into the post, he is not a moderator and there is no "edited" trail below his post.

i appreciate the feed back and don't think welding is an option because it is a in a bad spot and it is completely broken and destroyed http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d111/angrychickens/IMG_5791.jpg

My only input would have been that you would not have been able to pass emissions as that is your only catalyst on the car, the "catalyst" under the car is a dummy cat and is hollow. So, by negating the piping off the exhaust manifold you are actually negating the only Catalyst you have. SO if you want to pass emissions you'll have to purchase an inline catalyst in place of the hollow factory one.
-- But good luck bud and welcome to ZILVIA :)

He's in FL, all of that may be a moot point, so long as he is running good enough to pass that sniffer when he goes for inspection.
He has been here longer than you have.

What he's trying to say is that the s14 downpipe has the cat made into the dp.
So if the op were to replace the dp he would have to replace the stock dummy cat with a real one to pass smog.
Being as how nox would be too high without a cat at all.

they dont check cars for anything anymore in miami, florida where i live. im curious as to why it broke the way it did, was it because of the rigid suspension rate or was it because of scraping the underside of my car every now and then. is this common in s14 and s13 downpipes

<-- I'm an idiot. I just looked at his post count not his join date sorry Philip :) And i didn't know they did not check for emissions, i just figured i'd toss my 2 cents in and try to help out a bit. :) I try and welcome newer members, i just have to open my eyes and read their join date haha.
As far as why it broke...who knows, could have clogged/backed up like crazy and was super heating itself and then cooling when the engine was cut off?? <---pulled that out of my butt :) Or REALLY bad motor mounts that were causing the pipe to beat itself sensless on startup haha. But that pipe with the flex joint in it is perfect, but maybe look to upgrade to a full length header in the future, they flow pretty nicely. ( i've got a hotshot header :) )

Old news. The S14 downpipe breaks a lot right there, I've removed dozens that were rewelded. Any muffler shop can handle it for cheap since the break will line right back up, just hold it together and run a bead. 5 minutes worth of work.
