Well, anyways, Ive had my GTO for 6 months, and I do like it, but I REALLY miss my old s14, and I just don't know why. I like the style, the community, the roots, blah blah, I just fucking like these cars. BUT here's what I am uncertain of. I could sell my car, and get back into one, but I would be somewhat upside down, and its not like I can't afford it or anything, but I am in school, working 40 hrs, and do that whole bit.
Anyways, I thought to myself, why not just find an s14 somewhere for 2-2.5k and just buy it to have, and have two cars? but this isnt practical, and Im making a car payment for my nice new car, and that would leave me with two 2 door cars, which isnt practical, and Im somewhat of a practical person. im 19 in school with a full time job that allows me to have the car.
AND I dont want to sell my GTO and then be kicking myself for selling a 350hp new nice car that I like.
SO, getting to the point. Has anyone here done such a thing? I could use the 240 as a beater and keep the miles on my gto down, that would be good, aye? Just let me hear your personal stories of doing stuff. I know Im young and I dont want to make the same mistakes someone else has made just because Im bored and nostalgic.

Cam, longtubes, and a tune (maybe even some moderate CC heads) and you'll never look back.

you've got a goat and you want a 240? get outta here.
if it were me, i'd sell the goat and get a c5 vette... but that has nothing to do with your situation :d

^ he said he's upside down witch means he can't sell the car and get into something else. Keep what you've got. You have debt now and if you keep selling and changing vehicles your debt will continue to increase exponentially

well, im not exactly upside down, but if I sold it, I could possibly be more of a loss than I would want. i owe 14k on it, dealer trade in is like 17

I'm in a pretty similar situation. Before I type away, I think you should keep the goat and buy an S14, since it seems like you can afford it. Sure it's impractical. So what?
I drive a '98 SR S14, but had an epiphany the other day. I had always liked the S13 coupe rear and roof design, but wanted an S14 kouki more than anything. I realized that an S13.4 track car is what I want. So, I've decided to buy a stock S13 coupe for cheap and build it. I'm going to swap the SR with the KA and the S14 will become the slightly modded daily. Why not just sell the S14? I just can't. I'm too attached to it. It's so impractical, but I don't give a fuck. I can barely drive in the Michigan winter as it already is, but I'm still going to follow my dream.

a thing I miss about the 240 community is style. these jughead domestic guys only 18x8.5 / 18x9 +40 and call it a day, and the only aero options are CRAZY expensive if you want to import them from aussieland. I want stretched tires and big lips still. I also want the monaro front, and I may have a friend in australia that can ship me one, so at least i can get the generic pontiac look out :) suspension mods for the goat are expensive too. I just miss the cheap fun that can be had with a 240.

You say you're practical.
Getting the S14 is fulfilling too much of you just "want" and not what you "need."
Seems like you're happy with the GTO, but you're gonna have to balance things out if you want to be practical. Basically, just choose one car.
IMO, practical thinking would be more like, I have a GTO now, but I need a DD, so I'll get a brand new economy car w/ good gas mileage.

yea, theres alot of things I want to do to the goat as its bone stock right now, and a 240 would cut into mod money for the gto, so I'll probably stick with the gto, but we will see. I guess im only practical in some areas and not all.

So it sounds to me like, you love the style of the drift car, and want somethign that could look that way, but still love the GTO?
Again, cam, longtubes, tune, and heads....you could easily have that all installed for the cost of a clunker s14, run 11's if not faster, and be just as happy.
And no offense, but 18x9 with a normal offset and some 275's on them looks proper on a muscle car

well i found a monaro bumper, my friend said he would ship the monaro bumper, but Im wondering how much its going to cost to ship one from aussieland. yea, looks like Ill just be pimping out the GTO for now. Maybe grant could find me some sweet 5x120 jdm big lip 18x10 wheels. Im all for blasphemy as long as its against domestic cars :)

yes i always have two cars but currently i have a 97 prelude and 02 IS300. it lowers my insurance by only $50 dollars a year. (one IS300 for $1300 and two cars for $1250, AAA)
but in reality you cannot find a clean S14 for 2.5k. and you must have budgets to fix the new 240sx that you are getting because it just the nature of used cars.

yea, ive seen that one, but this one is the 2002 cv8 monaro bumper, and I think id have to get new headlights for it. its only 220 USD + aus shipping, and that one is 800 + shipping in jersey, but stock headlights will bolt right up and fit fine

this bolts right up too:

but this conversion is expensive even in australia. maybe I could wait for the g8 to come out and use its fenders and hood, but even then, shits gonna be expensive. I suppose ill just linger on ebay.com.au and maybe I can piece it together, because this is by far my favorite

UPDATE. I have made my decision. Im selling my car. I like it, but I dont think its worth 500 more a month than what Im going to get: a white 1990 hatch with around 110k on the SOHC and the chassis. 1500 bones. I go to pick it up next week in alabama and the gto is going on autotrader and the local paper.

if your only 19 id say practical would be to get rid of the GTO and have no car payments at all and get back into an S14. Im sure insurance payments would be lower too.
edit: missed your last post about you making up your mind. good choice :bigok:
