According to my stupid Chilton book, there is no possibility nor necessity to adjust the linkage, because it has an integral system. However, i can't imagine this being the case. My shifter is COMPLETELY loose... when engaged in any gear it floats back to the middle.... could the stopper plate be broken on the inside of the tranny housing? Or what?

Or does anyone know how to tighten the linkage IF possible PLEASE HELP it makes me grind sometimes because 5th looks like 3rd and 1st looks like neutral and so on... HELP!!!!!

there is no "linkage" there is a shift rod in the trans, the shifter goes directly to it.

you probably need new shifter bushings.

i'm sure it's stock so what would this entail to get the shifter to stop floating around?

Definitely the bushing.
the good thing is they are only like $2~3 from the dealership.

or if you want to spend the money on a/m shifter like b&m or something

so again the most common problem for my car was not the actual problem. When i took apart the boot for the shifter and the console I saw the problem... the idiot who sold it to me never put all the bolts into the shifter plate!!! No wonder my car always seemed to leak tranny fluid and it smelled like oil, but now I fixed it no bushing needed it was fine!

It's also a good idea to replace the shifter springs.. two 19mm bolts holded the springs in against the shifter on the trans. I'm sure the you notice of soft moving the stick is to the left, and firmer to the right. Hks sells a set for $90. Pm if you need more specific info.
