I've come to terms w/ the fact that my headlights suck. I do a lot of driving on unlit highways...

Anyone have any experience w/ conversion kits (tossing the sealed beams)?

I'm not looking for a facelift here, just better lighting....

I just bought a set of 'diamond blue' headlights for 50bux shipped from ebay.  I love them, but they fog up if you don't seal between lightbulb and headlight assy.  Once I did that, they were perfect.  I just love having the white headlights instead of yellow ones, i think they look way better and give better visibility.

Legality is another issue, on the package it says 'offroad use only' but i haven't been bothered yet and there are way too many people with those kind of bulbs in their stock headlights for cops to do anything about.  Just my 9 cents.

"diamond blue" eh? ... Look better and give better visibility? well 'looks; are subjective (I feel that the blue reflection/tint you see in headlight housings w/ blue bulbs looks gay) and I'll tell you now that they do NOT give better visibility unless the output is significantly higher than 'legal' (which it most probably isn't.)

As has been said before (though I've never seen it on THIS board before), blue headlights are bad for a number of reasons, most notably being that since blue is closer to violet (than "yellow" or 'real' white), it's a harder color for us to see/pick up/sense. Which means lower visibility.
The other one that I pick on is the fact that it is annoying when some ricer jackass has improperly aimed "hyper blue" headlights directed right at your rear view mirror.

IMO, these things don't even belong offroad, they just don't belong!

if you have an s13 get the Hella H4 set up. you will NOT be dissapointed. excellent lighting. i was very impressed. cost me about 110 dollars and that because i bought higher wattage bulbs (brighter). get the euro one too hehe...its brighter as well. i used to blind people so i had to readjust the headlight height and angle to get truckers from stop shooting their side light at me. the high beams...that's just cruel to do to someone now haha..

definately worth the money. highly recommend it. or put out 500 bucks for HID..my next step..

I picked up my H4 Conversion from Don @ PDM. Mine was about $75 shipped and it came within a week. I got the bulbs that came with it (55/60 w or something) and I still get highbeamed from on-coming drivers. (Haven't had a chance to adjust them... just too damn lazy haha)

I believe they were "Bosch" so I think they're legal... once I put them in, it was like I could see much better. (well comparing them to the yellowed 10+ yr old sealed beam ones isn't a great measurement, but with the glass housings, I can always upgrade my bulbs to a higher wattage whenever I want)

anyways...
The ones I got are H4 bulbs, they do give a slightly bluish tint, but not nearly as much as xenon headlights do. &nbsp; The headlight housing lens is clear glass, so at least to me that looks much better than the opaque stock ones do. &nbsp; They give better visibility because everything that is reflective stands out twice as much as it does with the yellow headlights. &nbsp;Plus, mine are adjusted to the proper height and I have never been highbeamed by anyone, so therefore I'm not blinding anyone. &nbsp;Stuff that in your pipe and smoke it.

Sealed beam conversion (http://www.demandmotorsports.com/MM071.ASP?pageno=39)

This looks like the winner, thought I'd share my finding.

Looks exactly like mine, but I got mine for $50 for a pair and bulbs were included. &nbsp; But shopping on e-bay is always risky so if you have the money, I would buy from a know large company also. &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

I got a pair just like the top ones in that link....and one of them developed a crack (after a few months) across the entire length. &nbsp;I'd like to think that the glass is tough enough to withstand little rocks on the highway and whatnot...but I guess not. &nbsp;I had the greenish tint bulbs.....they look cool...but the visibility at night really sucks.
