my friend got pulled over once for having a rhd car but it was a conversion.they tried to give him a ticket but there was no law in california that states you cannot have a rhd conversion vehicle.instead they gave him a ticket for having a filter and modified exhaust.

i got pulled over by the cops they said i was change lanes fast and swerving i was tipsy and i had a passenger sitting where the driver side is so post to be. he was drinking a beer on the way home and the cop saw him he was drunk as fuck, he cant control himself when he drinks, when we got out the car he was talking shit to the cops. i was like shut up. but anyways i had a rhd jeep. i was the only one in my town with it well CA. it was orange too. the funny thing is that the cop came to my side of the car first, and asked me to turn off car and step out. i was how did he know my shit was rhd. i guess they have know about me (fucking around in the rain) and finally they had a reason to pull me over.

What's with the RHD Jeeps? I've seen a few around here too. The first one I saw was a Cherokee with the rear windows tinted so when I was passing it I was like "Woaaa there's no driver in that car!"

out in the rural parts you can find rhd cherokee's which are used to deliver mail.... but a jeep is new to me

a while back i got mail from a rhd titan, it was not a full conversion as it was a separate steering wheel and belt/pulley system... so you can drive lhd when u need to.

I was about to say the same thing, a friend of mine's aunt has one of those in NC as her dailyish driver, and has had it since the late 90's as I remember it.
I don't have much to offer the OP other than the fact that it is legal as your know-how/who or money can make it, just so much as anyone else with a RHD car... My best question, though, would be "why?"

Hell, Alex, THOSE are the questions one should ask THEMSELVES before considering RHD... If not, they deserve the pwnage, up to and including death, that they will receive.

are you thinking about converting an LHD to RHD? or are you actually acquiring a JDM RHD car and want to know if it will be street legal?

if the latter, then you're better off using it as a parts car.

if you're thinking about converting...don't wast your time or money. all the money and time you will put into it will do much better elsewhere IE power upgrades, suspension upgrades, braking upgrades, aero, etc.

just join the Marines. My bys in there and hes allowed to import any car and they reg. if for him for free he just pays for the car where ever he gets it.

rhd just gets u lots of attention and gives a cop a reason to pull u over but as far as i know tehre is no law that u cant have a rhd in ca so they cant give u a ticket for that reason .. but they car sure find a reason ..
ur car is to low, u have tint, no cat, hid's, exh... air filter ... anything really

Yeah no. It'll cost me at least 10k to get my car back should I be forced to return and I've been stationed on Okinawa for almost 4 years now.

If you want a RHD converted car than do it. Im gonna do it to a beater 240, cant waste the clip.

there is nothing illegal for a RHD conversion, If you want a JDM car than search for the answer on the legalitys, there is alot of threads about it.

that's a Jeep Cherokee that has been converted to RHD, but they also came from the factory RHD for postal carriers (they were also sold in the UK RHD)

i have been pulled over for speeding and the cop tried to give my passenger the ticket, cop was cool as hell a little confused but cool, as for drive thru's bring a friend or just reach across unless you got some tiny t-rex arms,atms put the car in park and get out for crist sakes people a little exercise wont kill ya but then again all that fast you eat might.

I've had cops roll up next to me and give a nod (approval? acknowledgment that they see me?), so if it was illegal I'm sure one would have pulled me over by now.
I can tell you this- if you want to do it to get attention, then go for it! My car's nothing special, but rolling with one of my kids in the (now) passenger seat definitely turns heads!
Of course, I acquired my car with the conversion already done, so it's up to you if you want to go through all of the work involved, but once you get it done and get used to driving, it's a blast!
