First of all just want to say Happy New Year to all the Zilvians.

This is probably the second time i post a thread on Zilvia.net. I usually find what im looking for in the forums but still kinda new on here. I did try doing some searching on here and on the web for my questions but couldnt find anything.

Anyway I bought my first S13 about a year ago and it came with some VOLK III 17x7 or 7.5 not really sure These rims are 4 and 5 lug. Im not sure what the off set is...??? Wheels came with 215/45/17 all around which looks very gay. I want to go with different tire size, right now with these tires the rims look really skinny which i understand the width of them are not that wide. What size of tires would you guys recommend or how much bigger or wider can i go. I dont take my car to the track, I do hit the canyons once in a while but nothing crazy just grip. I want to get nice decent fitment on there that will look nice and maybe make them look a little wide. My car has stock fenders front and rear and will be slapping on silvia front end sometime soon. Thanks guys

By the way i tried posting up some pics but for some reason its giving me some error msg.

thanks for the advice. Now with this size of tires would i have to do any pulling or rolling on the fenders? I know the rims has some lables on the inside of the rim, would that say the offset of rims? I dont not sure what they are. thanks

It may. Or it may be cast into the back of one of the spokes or what not.

Take pictures of any stickers or engravings on the wheels and by that we can most likely tell you what the offset is.

Also, with a 235/40 tire on a 7-7.5 in. wheel I doubt you'll need to roll your fenders.

you can always measure the offset man....just use straightedges and measuring tape...

On 17s, 245/40/17s will give you the closest on total tire height to the stock 205/55/16s

Maybe 225/45/17 would look good too (24.97 inch total height)
or 215/45/17 (24.61 total height)
or 245/40/17 (24.71 inches total height)

whereas 205/55/16 is (24.87)

EDIT: oh by the way, here are some pictures of 235/40/17 on a 17x7.5 just so you can see how it looks.....doesn't buldge tooo bad:

IF you switch from 215 to 235, you will gain a little traction, but from a "looks" standpoint, you won't really tell the difference...

20mm/2 sides = extra 10mm per side = 0.4 inches.....not a WHOLE lot different, but you can gain a little traction

Let us know what the offset is on those....

measure the rim width (between the inside of the lips) and the put a flatedge across the inner lips, spanning the whole wheel's diameter, and measure the perpendicular distance to where the wheel mounts to the hub

offset = (distance from inner edge to mount point) - (width/2)

Most likely if the offset is reasonable, you should be able to fit most reasonable tire sizes (205-245) for that rim width without rubbing.

let us know though

I took a look at the rims and the label read on all 4 rims 17x7.0 +37 offset. Ok now what tires can i really run on these rims. Like i said i want to get the best looks with this size of rims. I wish these rims were wider but fuck it ill work with what i got for now. Sometime in the future i will be going 5 lug and ofcourse get some nice looking wheels but for now i gota stick wit this. So let me know guys. If anyone has any pics with this size of rims i have with some good looking tire sizes please post. I tried looking for some pics online and on the wheel fitment thread whores and didnt see any w/ my set up. thanks guys by the way here are 2 pics of my rims

Since they are only 7" wide, don't go any wider than a 225 tire. 235 will just bulge and be a waste.

,maybe a spacer, will help a liiiitle bit too...but for sure adding a meatier tire will help look stronger.
