I was looking on the Colorado emissions website and saw a section refering to kit, rebuilt and custom cars. It says that cars in this catergory only have to pass the sniffer test and not the smog type test (which I hear won't pass an SR20DET). My point is if an engine swap to an SR would be considered a rebuild or custom, then it should be fairly easy to pass emissions. Of course this is all speculation but if anyone in Colorado is more familiar with this I'd be intrested to know.

Im not too sure, but I will someday find out as I plan to put a SR or RB in my s13. Honestly though, they should have no idea its a different engine so it should be able to pass with it tuned the right way.

Thats what I was thinking but I'd really hate to do th e swap and then not be able to drive it legally. I'm not too into bribeing the emissions guy.

Last time I had emissions done they only did the rolling tail pipe test, which SR's have been know to pass with flying colors. Visual would be your only problem, and from what I observed there is no such test.
