Have you guys seen the new Greddy intercooler that replaced the M-spec? I been looking around and people seem to be talking it up. Thinking about buying it... What do you think?

for the life of me i cannot remember where i read it, i even checked the past 2 issues of SS, but i remember reading is was released due to the ridiculous amount of people buying ebay FMIC's. the core is thinner, but not by much, from what i read.

It is a 'replacement' for the M-Spec, although from what Ive heard its just an M-spec that they now call 'LS' Spec and sell for 100$ more because they werent making enough money on the M specs.

Regardless 400$ or w/e they charge for the LS Spec isnt bad for a name brand intercooler if that is what youre looking for.

it says its not bar/plate like the M-spec was
I have an M-spec, it rocks,
only diff is its a "better" core.
but its still a great quality kit.

unlike the m-spec, the LS spec is designed to be similar to their V-Spec and R-Spec cores which are tube and fin. however, the LS spec is a conventional tube and fin design, where as the V and R spec cores have innovative louvers and protrusions on their fins to increase the surface area of the fins thus increasing cooling capacity. most of the high end inter coolers are tube and fin.

I was under the impression that Greddy created the M-spec to compete with the number of generic intercoolers being put out on the market.

The LS-spec is a tube and fin design which replaces the bar and plate on the M-spec and should be within the same price as the M-spec intercooler. Not that I'm a brand name whore, but having a quality Greedy part which actually doesn't require modification to install vs saving $100-$150 on a generic intercooler and hacking up the piping kit that came with it does hold some value. Gotta give them credit for attempting to make stuff affordable for kids that can't spend the $1000 bucks on their higher end.

I only speak from experience of owning 2 generic intercoolers and I've had trouble mounting them without any modification, contrary to their 'complete bolt-up' claims. I've had to replace the clamps, modify the brackets, replace/modify/hack/weld the piping. Could of easily just picked up the Greddy and be done with it. But at the time Greddy didn't have the M available to buy so I was stuck with what I could get. I needed the money to pay for other important mods. . .
