RSW and M & F Auto Sales presents a full schedule of racing for next year!!! Im really excited to announce that we will be having our own events that will include road course racing, autocross, and drifting all at the same time. M & F Auto Sales on Coors Road has been kind enough to sponsor these events and make them possible. Thanks Mike & Fadi.
The events will be at Sandia Motor Speedway in Albuquerque, NM.
Road Course / Auto-x:
We will have one track that utilizes both types of driving all in one lap. This will cater to both types of drivers who are used to driving tight, slower tracks as well drivers who are used to driving wider, faster tracks. We will incorporate turns 1-6 on the road course and then use the return road as part of the course to enter back onto the paved open area, where we will make a small 3 or 4 turn auto-x course that will test your car on slow, tight, fast, and also sweeping turns. We will have timing equipment that will allow us to have a start/finish line wherever we please. We will have 4 different classes for racing. 3 will be for cars and 1 will be a go kart/shifter kart class. The 3 classes will be fairly lax on what is allowed and what is not. We will do this to hopefully get each person in the proper class where they can be competitive. Even though these are just for fun, we will have a points system and keep track of everyones points over the course of the season. If these are a success, there will be prizes given at the end of the year for different accomplishments for each class. We will allow completely stock cars with drivers that have never been on a course before all the way to full race cars and experienced drivers. We will cap the number of drivers allowed to come if we get too many as I want to make sure everyone gets a lot of track time.
Drifting:
We will have the outer and inner oval to ourselves. We will have a course layout and this will be a practice, not a competition. There are no plans for judging or competing at this time, but its possible for future events. There will be tandem action allowed but there will be further safety necessities done to the car as well as driver experience before given the go-ahead for tandem drifting. AJ Tires will be on hand for as many of the dates as they can possibly make it out to for our convenience of changing tires. We will have tons of track time, I promise.
Spectators:
Each paid driver will be allowed (1) person to enter with them for FREE!!! They will only be FREE if they come at the same time as you, not later to meet you there. All other spectators are $5 and that includes pit passes, being able to walk and spectate pretty much anywhere. All spectators are also allowed to ride along in cars with drivers as long as the vehicle passes tech. for the passenger side and the passenger has a helmet. Passengers are NOT allowed during tandem drifting, no exceptions.
Tech:
All vehicles will have to pass normal safety tech. inspections. For instance, each driver must have a helmet, batteries must be properly tied down, wheels must have all lug nuts, seats and seat belts must all operate properly, cars must not leak any fluids, tires must show some amount of tread, etc... These are not all the rules, but they are all really common sense. Please do not show up with a car that is falling apart or has things ghetto rigged.
If you guys can make it down for a couple of these that would be awesome!!! Nothing like cheap as hell track time :)
