damn... I came back to LA this weekend from San Jose, so I scheduled a little run down the canyons with all my friends. All was well... at when we reached the bottom, I left, while the rest of the guys stayed.
I just heard that when they drove back up the canyon, there was a cop waiting for them. Tickets were handed out, but at least they weren't very serious. It's still going to be a hassle though, dealing with the court system and craps.... so yea, im sorry you guys got caught... sucks...
MikeFD said that the residents complained, so a cop was sent up there to wait for everyone.
damn residentials.... we did it on the weekend too. It's not like we were waking them up or anything -- it's not like they had work the next day. Those bastards...
Time for find a new place to drive, I guess...
haha... as usual, it's MrMiggs that's left to tell the story for the rest of us. It was an interesting experience, though! And as I know it, the FD and FC were parked at the end of the street, then a cop car rolled by and assumed that those two were the ones making all the racket. (there were actually 2 hondas going up/down there too)
Ahh well. We're contesting the tickets, so just wish us luck (and good preparation) for that.

last time I went to the mountains with my friends, on the final run there was a cop car sitting in the shadows at the highest point in the run, we flew past him but he didn't chase, must have been out of the car taking a leak or something... after we got to the bottom and started heading home he caught up to us... but pulled over some miata that wasn't with us... close call...
i'll pray everything works out for you guys~

Since I heard that Azusa was closed for a year (brush fires) I tried another canyon. ON the way down, we were going at a hefty speed. I see lights up ahead coming uphill. Next thing you know its a COP jamming up the hill, I'd say at about 60-70 mph. Very close to hitting us. Luckily did not turn around and harass us. damn cops like to get their own canyon run on heh.

ugh, that is dumb. You guys go canyon racing? pffft!
-That is illegal what you guys are doing and I will notify authorities if you retards don't stop with those stupid canyon races!
[email protected] these kids!
-WTF is an FC/FD? is that slang you racers use?..I jus hope the cops get you guys and and teach all of you a lesson, pepper-spray style!
You idiots!!!!
No races here. hell there's no way I can keep up with the FD and FC that night... I wouldn't even try. (Okay to be fair I did try to keep up with the FD... and my brakes went to fading-hell, leaving me to coast down the second half of the downhill.)
And to think that the n/a FC is just as fast (if not faster) than the TT FD... that's some sick shit.
Coolerow we tried to get in touch with you to see if you'd come out too, but no one could get to you! you're just jealous.

Too bad you guys got caught, but the residents have good reason to be worried. What hapened if a car got out of control and took out a mailbox? What if someone was walking their dog and you guys came around a corner at 50+mph?

Can someone PM me some places to drive around the Pomona area. I know a lot of places around the Bay Area, but I am down here for school now and I would like to know some canyons to drive.
Almost the same thing happened to me a couple of months ago, I almost got busted because some residents reported us, I got lucky though.

i'm from the bay area. one day, i took my crx and just drove around in the hills looking for good roads to just drive on. i found one, and it was around 15 miles in length. it looped through trees and hills and along a river...great scenery.
i told some friends, and we all went driving on it. two crxs, one civic hb, and one 240 fastback, all screaming through the "course" as we call it.
it's a great place to waste time when we're bored and have nothing else to do. it's a great way to relieve stress...flying through curvy hillside roads.
the funny part is when you are screaming through the curves and you see a slow car in front of you, and it turns out that he/she is driving on that road for the same reason! My friends and i once encountered a slow moving subaru legacy, but the legacy soon caught on as to why we were driving that particular road...and it took off with us. good times....

yeah... took out someone walking their dog at 2 in the morning... I think they'd be more worried about deer killing them then eating their dog than us understeering into a mailbox like those damn FWDers were doing up there.
50+ mph? where'd you get that number? in those super twisty, narrow lanes we do at least 75 or 80.
Note the dripping sarcasm.

Driving fast on angel's national forest in glendora or azusa ave. in Azusa shortened my tires' life greatly down...since there were 4 forest fires going around those 2 canyons, police officers just block them out, especially angel's national forest. It's fun to just cruise a little bit fast on Angel's but also pretty dangerous...so i never race there being stupid but rather just cruise for fun...at least i'm not doing illegal thing.

Hehe, I was born in Pomona. I guess the closest road there would be Carbon Canyon Rd. Its really crappy but good to practice on your "higher speed" runs. If I remember, I think theres only one nice S-turn there, but everything else pretty much sucks.
To get to that road you take the 71 freeway south, exit Chino Hills Pkwy and left on Carbon Canyon Rd.
-As for the good roads...those I keep a secret.

most bay area mountain roads are all jacked up. I've tried mostly east bay hills. a great beginning road is highway 84, take that from fremont to livermore and it's a long joy with a smile all the way (cept for weekdays when cars crowd it up).
there are two in my area (altamont pass) one is north of 580, called altamont pass road, it's a great twisty road, not too high on elevation, but great curves, and it's two lane so pretty safe.
on the south is patterson pass road, this shit scares me, but I go everytime I come home from the bay. it starts slow and two lanes. then uphill is sharp, with sharp turns. then it peaks and downhill you have to cruise, cause going too fast is gonna make your car hop, feels like a roller coaster. after that is the best part, great twists and turns, but one lane so I'm always aware of oncoming traffic. sometimes you can see ahead, so you know it's safe to drive crazy. it's a great 15mins at least.
not a lot of houses, so no complainers. a lot of traffic passes by on the weekdays tho, damn commuters, take BART!! best day is sunday, it's a real sunday drive.

That's cool... how about cops? Do they hand out tickets to people who drive on that road?

Bah. you west coasters You get to have all the fun.
On the same topic I learned a very important lesson the other day. Don't trust a DSM boy to drive a s14 on a semi winding road. He almost under steered my s14 onto a guard rail. I especially since I told him not to push my car since the road was alittle wet. I can drive his talon better then he can, which is pretty sad.

haven't seen a cop go there, it's a hidden road, mainly a backroad, for both routes. it's risky cause a lot of people use the road to commute to the bay area, so it's only clear once in a while. and I'm prolly the only one that goes fast.

You fellas need to come to vally springs up near calaveras. Thats where my Girl lives. Plenty o hair pin turns and long windy stetchs. Best part is, no cops and no Rice. The ricers from stockton and sac town those areas dont make up to the hills with there weak ass suspension. So I go up there and drift my heart out.

calaveras is a nice drive and the road is in fair/good condition
lots of hairpins to make it fun as well as some other types of corners...watch out for oncoming traffic because the yellow line disappears in many parts of the road, so don't assume you have the road to yourself. I learned that when I was coming out of a corner and a car was in front of me 300ft ahead....(good thing it was 300ft, and good thing i was going slow). There aren't many cars up there though...couple weeks ago, I drove it home from San Jose to Oakland and I was pretty much the only one up there...except for this mustang that was behind me at the beginning of the road (I had to let him pass because he knew the road well and was taking the corners much faster than me)....and that other car that was oncoming...only saw 1 pedal pusher but no motorcycles...do expect motorcycles on that road though because they know about it too
I'd say calaveras would be an edurance run because it's really long and there's just so many corners before you reach the end of the road. It is fun to drive though.
Hey Migs, what school are you going to in SJ? I'm at sjsu
