Pics are worth 1000 words. There was 1500miles of use on this manifold.

Yup, its been of the car for a while now(over a year). Just couldn't get the pics to turn out with my other camera. Now with my XTi, it was easy to get good pics of the cracks. I was planning getting a new one but I picked that one up new for so cheap, I know now why.
Pic of my new manifold:

full race for life!
whats the new mani?
looks sweet
hopefully it will last....

That mani should last for a LONG time. If not it has a lifetime warranty on it. Manifold is by straight line specailties

yea that new manifold looks hella nice
i also like fullrace the best..
i remember hearing really bad things about the boost designs kit back in the day but never saw any proof...
this is enough proof for me to know that they suck dix

I am a fan of full race. But not a fan of spending $1400 on a mani. When the shop that made my new one is pretty much next door to my shop.

Yashio Factory is the best manifold i have ever used. No problems after around 9000 miles. it's gone through 3 motors with me. mostly hard driving aswell.

I feel confident in Tufte's (SLS) manifolds after seeing what their shop cars have done.
Has he considered becoming a forum vendor on here?

Nope. Probably won't either. He has a vendor that on ka-t.org that is selling his products.

everyone needs to realize. all manifolds will crack. including cast iron OE sr manifolds. tubular manifolds are a performance gain at the cost of longevity. deal with it. done.

^^^ yeah I agree. Shit happens. But shitty parts makes it happen that much faster though.
Tomei manifold me likey.

For $800, I'd rather pay another $100 and get the Peak boost manifold,
like this one. (http://www.frsport.com/PeakBoost-T3-Turbo-Exhaust-Manifold-SR20DET-Topmount_p_8162.html). I have one sitting in front of me and build quality is phenomenal.

yeah...... you make a good point
if it wasnt for the fact that SHITTY PRODUCTS fail sooner than good quality products.

AMS GT32 spools pretty damn fast on my KA. Any straight T3 will spool really fast on a KA or even SR, but you will be limited in power range.

and 2871R if it's done right (ie porting the wg port/hole opening) for less boost creep and using PFC or Haltech with integrated closed loop boost control.
on the topic of manifolds cracking...
You know what I have seen crack manifolds a lot?
Shotty tuning or a mis placed cell in a map, or bad timing controls.
Exaust temps are what kill manifolds faster than anything.
what kind of tuning was done to your car.
tuning is everything...god I wish people would pull their heads out of their asses on that. :x:
KA-T_240
01-01-2008, 08:02 PM
I was not aware that they make a T3 GT2871.
Tuning is Enthalpy. I have had the same tune on the car for 2 years now. New mani has not shown a sign of cracking or anything else. I am stepping up my EM this spring.

better be a haltech and a plane ticket for me. :mephfawk: haha
sounds like a too much retard in timing map or just horrible welds or maybe too much vibration.
do you have flex pipe in dp?
KA-T_240
01-01-2008, 08:11 PM
I am pretty sure it has something to do with the welds, thin wall tubing, or the 1" OD diameter of the tubing. The guy that does my fab work pretty much told me when I had him do my IC pipes to schedule a time for a new mani in about 2 months. He was pretty right.
I already have to tow my car 300 miles just to get to a dyno. Don't think I can swing flying you to North Dakota. And if i did I would make sure its the coldest week of the year so you could experience some ND fun!
steve shadows
01-02-2008, 03:51 PM
:naughtyd: haha sounds good. Can i tour the nuke silos too?
yeah thats really far away from a dyno I would just stick to your rom tune.
or if you were balling, buy your own dyna-pack keep it in your gargae.

actually........... ya. My dads shop does a lot of performance stuff on diesels. And they are expanding onto the shop. If him and one of his co-workers end up buying the shop out don't know what well end up happing.
