I might buy some used KYB shocks off my friends S14, but will they bolt right up on my 1991 240sx?

lol yeah, they're different. S14 rears are waaaaay too long.

It's a good thing struts aren't expensive - just buy some KYBs or Tokico adjustables and find some used springs on here. Decent solution for cheap, it's the Zilvia way.

Your question is two sided.

S14 struts will bolt right up fine, but you'll have play in the bolts unless they're impacted down good since the S14 uses M14 bolts, the S13 uses M12 bolts.

S14 shocks won't work at all, period.

Sorry to dig up an old post, but thought it better than creating a new one...

S14 struts will bolt right up fine, but you'll have play in the bolts unless they're impacted down good since the S14 uses M14 bolts, the S13 uses M12 bolts.I found a part on McMaster the other day that should solve this problem: 6679K17 (http://www.mcmaster.com/#6679k17/=5r1ymq). It has an I.D. of 12mm and O.D. of 14mm. I slid it over the S13 strut bolt and it seemed to work, and pressed it into my S14 uprights. The fit was pretty good, but that could partially be a function of my uprights being powdercoated. Meaning, it might be a tad easier/looser without the coating.

Ideally the part would be 1/4" longer, but I think this will work perfectly. At $3.10 each, it beats the hell out of having something machined.

In case anyone's curious, I am running S14 spindles to use OE 5-lug front hubs, and don't want to drill out my S13 strut housing bolt holes since I'll be selling them this year sometime.
