Just curious..were these 6 speed trannys or still a 5 speed? Also, what was the stock power out put on them? Still 205hp or 220, or more?

Thanks for clearing up the information, but yes its out of a 97-98 180sx. In japan the 180sx models were made untill 1998 so this motor the "newest" S13 type SR20 you can buy. The transmission is still a 5 speed. It also has an auto ecu for it which will remove the speed limiter (will NOT effect peformance in anyway but often helps improve coasting idle when running a vented BOV).

When it comes to buying used motors, you get what you pay for. Im not a huge wearhouse full of motors. Whatever motors i have, ive seen them run and inspected them myself.

not a bad price for a damn clean looking motor. You may save yourself a few hundred bucks buying an engine from a bulk distributor, but how many of us have bought those motors and rebuilt them within a few thousand miles out of necessity... This motor looks cherry... may wanna post mileage if you know it though seller.

whats the ECU code on that?

J4, the J5 ecu is the manual version. You can use an E5 ecu from an older model blacktop but you have to repin the ecu plug. As far as the miles go i really have no idea, only what i can tell from the condition of the motor. Turbo has no shaft play, none of the gaskets/seals seem like they are leaking, there is no oil residue buildup in the head, no scoring, the plugs that were in it showd no signs of lean conditions.

I entierly forgot to add that the harness is already set up to work in an S13. One of our customers originally puchased the motor a while back from us. He never ended up finishing the project and one of my co-workers puchased the car. While it was here i hooked everything up and started it up just to make sure everything was in check. One of the smoothest sounding SR's ive heard. I pulled the motor and the chassis was sold, thus the car has no home. If i didnt have an RB, this thing would be mine.

thats actually a very fair price on the engine! plus having a harness already wired for your car is a plus!

clean SR's are getting harder and harder to find. and like has been said you can buy from some bulk guys. but half the time they dont even know what tranny goes to engine or what harness goes to ecu and you run into having a shitty motor..

prime example my friend thought he was gettin a smoking deal.. come to find out ALL FOUR bearings on his sr were spun..

What about the cluster? the cluster that the 97-98 S13's are kinda hard to come by, expensive too. but i didnt offer anything regarding a cluster?

Theyre not that rare of a motor. The price is only 100-200 more than a redtop and they are pretty much the same just fresher and there are fins under the vavle cover on the head. Some "Redtops" are actually blacktops but because they like the red valve cover in Japan, guys swap them.

driftertim: not all black tops are from this model year, thats what makes it more "rare" This thing is still available, this thing needs a home.
