this is for all my east coast people and the boys up north who drive our 240s all year round and through a real winter...none of this socal "its 50* out and Im cold" bullshit and definitely no clean flat roads....I mean snow, Ice, slush, salt, sand, all that. So what are you guys using for snow tires? Ive been drivin mine without snow tires so far and its not cutting it anymore, Im considering getting some snows cause Im tired of getting stuck everywhere....so show me what you got

Hankook ipike 225/40/17 all around. Not bad for the price i got them for, paid 300 shipped when they had that deal at discount tires. Its definitely a noticeable difference in the snow, compared to all seasons.

blizzaks are nice. also remember to run a pretty skinny tire too, that will help. we have a 91 corolla that is a fuckin BEAST in the snow, it runs on all seasons all the time, but the factory tire width is 155, it has NO problems in the snow.

Studded Winterforce M+S's.

I go anywhere I want, when I want.

I'm up in Southern, NH and we just got blasted with like 14 inches of snow and I had no trouble going around yesterday in blizzard-like conditions.

those arent studded, they just have places to put studs (those little holes), and if you studed them, thats illegal lol.

their nice tires though.

Those aren't mine. I took those off their website. I'm in school right now. In NH is isn't illegal to have studded tires. My friends van has them too.

Yeah, it's pretty cool. Studs make it so much easier, haha. I'd rather not have to drive my car all year though, the salt kills the car and I'm constantly getting car washes. To the OP, G/L finding some good tires!

EDIT: Stock S14 wheels? Um, I got mine off of Tirerack.com last year. I'll check to see if they have them in the right sizes for the stock rims. I just picked up a set of steelies from them too. They also stud them for you before they ship them out, it's a really good deal for the way these things handle in the snow!

I used to run coopersmith weather masters, 205/16, drove though TONS of snow and never got stuck. I believe the general idea is to run the thinnest tire so they have less snow to actually plow through.

need more specs. what wheels are you puting them on etc etc. Aren't you guys suppose to run narrower tires

I'd go with silverstone tires, they are fairly good price

I used to run 195/60/15 Blizzak WS50's on S13 SE alloys. I loved them, wish I could go back to the days of the S13 in the winter on Blizzaks.

The bridgestone blizzak ws-60 are a very good winter tire. My friend that does ice racing with his z31 uses those tires on it. Also he told me that nokian makes very good snow tire as well.

I had/have these too...bought a winter beater so they are just sitting in my dining room taking up space. was trying to sell them but may trade them for Advan's now instead.

Oh, I didn't stud them and they worked really well for a nice cheap winter tire.

I run 215/55/16 Blizzaks on R32 GTR wheels. I wonder if the GTR wheels fit on Evos or STis..

the lug pattern is different. so they wont work unless you have some sort of adapters

I have the Toyo Observe G-02 plus on my mom's car, best winter tires ive ever used although they tend to be pricey.

Im really considering these winterforces....I was thinkin about blizzaks but I thought they were kind of expensive...I wonder if a tire rack or NTB in a state that doesnt allow studded tires would refuse to mount them...or if theyd just do it and tell you they werent responsible once you leave

240sx_sr20det

IIRC they didn't ask me anything about the studs, so I didn't say anything. I just ordered what I want and then shipped them out pretty quick. The Winterforces are really good tires, I'd go with them.

they dont come studded, you have to stud them yourself. they just say studded because they have the holes for studs if you choose to stud them.

You can have Tirerack stud them for you. It's 15 extra dollars.

those silverstones look like dirt tires to me, not snow tires. every snow tire I've ever seen has siped tread blocks.

I am running Blizzak Revo's on my stock S13 wheels since I recently bought summer wheels. Goes damn good in the snow but you have to behave in dryer conditions with winter tires, they are stupid soft compound. I love them and I'd buy them again. I got mine FS on tirerack for like 80 a piece w/ free shipping.

i had the winterforces on my s13 (with my deftforce) for a couple years and the car was lovely. completly capable in the snow. made driving in the snow fun instead of just being annoying and spinning tires/getting stuck. also, the reccomended sizes for snows is 1 or 2 sizes below stock size.

now i have a subaru as well as my 240 and dont worry about it anymore.

Silvia kids running the same tires I got. The kelly wintermarks. I got them for $70 a pop plus free everything and they grip like hell. Drove all the way home from Boston during that crazy storm we got last year towards the end of winter and everyone was sliding and I was just rolling through. I didn't even stud mine, the guy said that the way they're made you don't even need unless your in NH or Buffalo or something. Boston doesn't even get hit hard enough to stud anything

I forget the model name, but I'm rocking some Dunlop tires on my stock wheels. There is a noticeable difference (especially with the LSD)...but I'm crossing fingers I don't have to use them anytime soon.

Ipikes, blizzaks, winterforces are the 3 i would consider. I am thinking of putting studded winter tires on my jeep......

I have drove one 240 in the winter with all seasons it did ok. I have another 240 beater that i have some no name winter tires with studs that i should have running this weekend well see how that does.

The Evo and the 05+ Sti both are 5x114.3. I just wonder if the R32 16s would clear the brembos...

Well they do already clear brembos but I'm not sure of the size difference

I've used Dunlop Winter Sport M3s the past few winters (and all of this past summer lol) ... I have nothing but good things to say about them. Pretty sure they are the same size as stock for an SE.
