Hey guys Im new to this forum and to the 240SX's. Im looking to buy a s14, but thats not the reasoning for my post. I was browsing through the technical section of this site and noticed that under car specifications there is a link for the Z32. Well I was kinda suprized to see the Z32 the only link in that section, and the fact I own a 1993 300ZX Twin Turbo made me even more curious to see what was inside. Well after looking inside i found a small error in some of the data. I just want to know who I talk to about getting it fixed. The drag coefficent for the Z is listed as .32 which is right ... for the Twin Turbo, both the NA versions of the Z32 had a drag coeficent of .31. Yes, the Non turbo is more areodynamic than the twin turbo, weird isnt it. Now this is not a big deal but I thought that I would bring it to attention so that Zilvia.net it not listing of incorrect data.
Sorry to make my first post one like this. Well I add in my first post post to make everything ok. Hey guys/gals Im new here, plan on sticking around for a while and if anyone knows of a nice S14 for sale let me know. BTW is there any place that has a type of buyer guide for the silvia/240? I checked out all the FAQ's I could find but didnt see anything about what to look for when buying a 240. If anyone can help please let me know.
Clifs Notes: There is some information on a page that is wrong, who do I let know about this error? Oh an I new, HI

Hello and welcome!
things to look for in 240's isn't that much different than any other car... the timing chain should be changed somewhere tween 80-100k I think? other than that, I dont' know of any specific s14 issues (I think there's more s13 issues than s14).
Enjoy your stay here! and some members are kinda mean to newbies, don't let it bother you... take zilvia for what it is, a collection of people sharing opinions, gotta take it all with a grain of salt Welcome.

Thanks for the warm welcoming and for the litle bit of info. I know what to look for when buying a car I was just interested in anything vehicle specific for the S14. Good to know theres not much to worry about. I did notice the rather harsh comments toward Noobs like me. Not to worry they wont scare me away, I have delt with a few over on the Z pages I frequent. Thanks again, see ya around.

oh wow... nice TT!! I'm liking your garage, too! It must be sweet having a lift at home! I wish I had a place like that to work on my car.

That car is gorgous and you seem to be pretty smart, and able to take the abuse from travis and the gang, well that just makes you ok in my book. Welcome to zilvia, and enjoy your stay. After a while you'll notice that not everyone is a dick, and sometimes you'll find some cool shit on here. Where abouts are you from, might be able to help you with the S14 search a little easier. Also, are you looking for an S14 or an S14a? The difference being S14 = 95-96 (zenki) or S14a =97-98 (kouki).

Thanks for the compliments about my Z, its my baby... Unfortunatly I have to sell her Ive been a bad boy and gotten myself into a bit of debt. So Im going to sell her and use that money to get out of debt completely. I am also going to sell my Saab beater, and then get a S14. From there its save $, save $, save $ for a while. Then its buy another beater and turn my S14 into a monster with an SR swap, maybe a CA swap, but I lke the potential of the SR a little more. Dunno only time will tell. BTW is the only difference in the S14 and S14a the year? If so it doesnt really matter, and I live in St. Louis, but traveling to get the car doesnt bother me.
Adey: The lift is not mine, it belongs to a good friend though and I can use it pretty much when I want. That weekend we did my clutch and his clutch (he has a 300ZX Twin Turbo also) which made for a very long weekend.
Thanks for the warm welcoming guy, talk to you all later.

the differences in the S14 is mainly the headlights, 95-96 have eliptical headlights, and 97-98 have shark eye headlights.. 97-98 is the preffered headlights. There are also little changes, not near as signifigant like the tailights, etc. How much power are you looking for? your comment about the SRs potential wasn't all together correct. The CA is by no means inferior. It comes from the factory with a 8k rpm redline, costs several hundred dollars less than the SR, drops in easier than the SR, and is cheaper to make 300-500hp from the CA than it is with the SR. If your looking to make less than 300hp, or more than 500 get a SR, but if you want 300-500 its cheaper and easier with a CA. The CA is a solid lift motor, you don't have to get a lash killer kit, new lifters and springs if you want real power.. you have to on the SR. Oh and anymore than 500hp on a 2800lb car (with interior) is rediclous in my opinion, and since your obviously not rich, you can't afford more than 500hp, cause that would cost over 10k..

hey, welcome.
And by the way, that is a very nice looking z!
It's nice knowing there are 240sx fans around my area. I live about and hour north of st. louis in illinois and make frequent trips to the u-city loop to feed my vinyl record needs.
What performance auto shops are there in the stl area? I'd love to visit some sometime.

nice Z. how much are you selling it for. (can't buy it, just wondering). my best friend has a Z as well. too bad you have to sell yours.
i live in the st. louis area and there aren't any good import shops around here. none that i would trust anyway. there is one that seems to be nice and it's in fairview heights, illinois. i haven't been there yet, but i'm going to see if they can install the boost controller on my friends car.

No.. to fit the different lights, the bumper, fenders, and hood had to be modified... so you need all of these items, in addition to actual lights to do it.. Grant did it, and he did a write up i believe.

welcome to zilvia... as you can see im pretty new to the fourm also, but i can tell you its been a pleasure to be part of this fourm.. i've learned so much about 240's from this fourm its wonderful...
im acutually selling my 97 240 if you're interested pm me... only problem is im located in fl. if you're just looking for a car to buy IMO the s14a has better front lights but the s14 has better tails... happy hunting
...oh yeah... and half the times the newbies are the ones asking to get picked on... if you want to know something than im sure its cool to ask, not everyone here knows as much as the next guy. When it comes to answering questions though its like if you are almost sure you KNOW an answer to something than its cool to me... but you if you are just THINKING IT than i belive the word used here is "post whore"

Nice Z32 man...sorry to hear it's got to be sold. I do however know someone that may be interested. Drop me an email with the details about it:

Man...tell your friend I'll take a lift like that for this Christmas...hehe. How much do those things run anyways? I'll bet it makes a lotta installs a whole helluva lot easier.
BTW, any particular reason for your choice of name? Focal as in the speakers? Anywho...welcome to Zilvia.net!

I did not know some of the things you mentioned about the CA. Now you have me wondering and thinking, where is a good place to go to find more info on the CA. I knew the engine was stong but I did not know that it was easier to into the power range I want with it. Are there any resorces where I can go and find some more info on the CA? Thanks for all your info, it was ver helpful.
mixxamike: I dont go to any local shops as they all such IMO, and are ripoffs. I have always done all my work and will continue to do so. I get my parts through a source out of Cali, and I get better deal than any shop could ever hope to offer. Actually I prolly get parts cheaper then most of the local shops around. So if you need anything let me know. Oh and if I did have to go to a shop for something I would prolly go to RHPerformance as BrickTop said.
BrickTop: I was asking $15,500 for my car and it looks to be sold.
240SxTYLE: Ill PM you as soon as I get done typeing this post.
nismo270r: I beleive my Z is sold, but if it falls through I will send you an email with some details about it. The lift was not as expensive as I thought when he told me what it cost him. Roughly $2500 shipped to his door, he had to put it together which he said was kinda a pain because of the weight and size of the parts. It makes working on cars a breeze. I did kinda steel my name from the Focal speakers. Way back when I was signing up for www.twinturbo.net I needed a screenname, and I had just bought some Focal components. i thought that name would do so I gave it my only little "flare" with the upper and lower case letters, and its just sorta stuck. I bet that more info than you needed huh.
Thanks for all the props on my Z, she will be missed .. In case some of you were wanting a little more info on my Z. I was Stage V, which is:
Intake
JWT ECU
Blitz Boost Controller
HKS Fuel Controller
2.5" Downpipes
2.5" testpipes
2.5" Catback
Those are my basic mods, and on the dyno I tuned to 338 rwhp and 355 rwq on a humid 95 degree day here in St. Louis. Anyway thanks for all your nice welcomings, see you around.
