I just found out this morning that I'm getting stationed in Alabama at Gunter AFB.
I was just wondering how the smog laws and all that are for Alabama. Are they pretty relaxed?

dont stress the small stuff bruddah, you can have whatever you want...or whatever you dont want...
I have lived her for 13 years off and on and I have been driving for 8 of them with 9 different cars...no SMOG tests here:bigok:
If you want a decent local board...for the montgomery area...check this out
www.aspeedracing.com (http://www.aspeedracing.com) and enjoy the south...it only sucks that bad in movies and half of the time in real life:keke:

How did you like Spang? It's not bad, but I wish I would have traveled more. I thought my next assignment was going to be over here, but it got canceled.
It's cool though. Cable TV, fast internet, Best Buy, 24 hour stores. I miss the states so much :p
How hard is it to register a car in a different state? My car is registered in Cali right now.
I'll check out those boards, thanks for the info :)

I hope not, I've lived on base in tech school, then at Langley, and here at Spangdahlem. I want to live off base with a roomate to take advantage of that BAH. :p
I'd like to get a house with a garage, but I don't know if thats too expensive for an E4.

Living around here isnt expensive if you live in Prattville, Millbrook, Or Wetumpka
Maxwell allows you to rent a UNIT or use the base garage for working on your car...tool rental, welder, and used to have paint guns:bigok:

So I checked the BAH for my rank, should be around $750. Is that enough to get a decent place near Gunter?
Not really sure what area I should be looking for apartments/houses at... any suggestions? I really want a garage, but I don't know if that will fit in my price range.

I'm not too sure about housing costs in that area but in the Biloxi, MS area that I live in that will almost get you a rather nice 2 bedroom apt.
I have been told that housing everywhere else is alot cheaper than where I am at now, but home is home. I hope you like the south, I love it. No smog laws, just license plate and inspection sticker. And don't get the tint too dark unless you are cool with the cops or if the local cops happen to let enlisted folks slide on the tint issue. Some places won't give you an inspection sticker with it though.

Well I'm finally here in Montgomery :p I'm in lodging on base looking for an apartment right now. I have like 8 days free leave to go around checking places out.
My clutch is acting kind of funny, I think it might be going out.
Anyone suggest any reputable shops in the Montgomery area to put a clutch in? I might do it myself at the auto hobby shop, but I'm not sure.
