[Sonic Motor]

The 626 Drift Crew is proud to present possibily the FIRST drift event of 2008!

And what a way to start the new year!

Jan 5th
Balcony Drift event, open to drifters of all levels!
$110 if you prepay before the day of the event and $140 at the day of the event. So sign up quickly!

End of day assessment:
The 626 drift crew goal is to encourage local drifters to become better at drifting. And thats why we reward the ones that really strive to become better!

Basically, the drifters will practice on the course that we setup. At the end of the day, we will have an ASSESSMENT or Competition for the drifters. Of course, there will be rewards. Dont be intimidated by the word "competition", because we are only doing it for fun!

Beginner competition winner:
1st Place: Half price to next 626 Drift event @ the balcony
2nd/3rd: $20 off next 626 Drift event @ the balcony

Due to possible rain on Dec 8th, the Horse Thief Mile event has been moved to:

There are only 20 drivers plus staff allowed at the event so sign up now!
So far, I got plenty of Spots left.

The Day will be divided in half with 4 hours for drifting and 4 for grip.
Grip will be broken into 2 sessions, because we want to separate the beginner drivers with the intermediate advance.

Not recommended for beginner drifters.

Get there early, tech at 7am.

Yeah at ASB i went through 3sets of tires, basically a set a lap and then conserved my last pair to drive home on.

I slept in the back of my s14 using my helmet as a pillow (which sucked) for like 2hours. FUN.

at least this time i'll have a truck and a better sleeping bag. Worse comes to worse i'll hijack someones hotel room :D

balcony is smooth. usually I run through a set and a half. I end up just driving home on the second pair cause there still good and im lazy.

el Toro is a great course, It just eats tires. When i did DD36 there, I went through 6 tires. all of em completely done. two of them chunked to flats, two i took to the limit, and two to cords.

Yeah, for the Balcony, 2 sets is usually good. If you bring a third as back up even better. But I usually only go with 2 sets.

I could make 2 sets last all day, but when i drive really agressive and put down sick smoke i could go through 4 sets easy!

Its an rb20 and waterpump and thermostat are new. I have no leaks. I bleeded the system lots of times idk what to do.

Providing you installe the h20 pump and thermostat correctly, that leaves only two things...

1. Radiator is clogged

2. fans aren't working.

The second of the two is easy to check.

So have you performed a compression test yet?????
Are you still using your stock radiator? I blew up 2 stock radiators cuz they cant get the job done while constantly at the limit. And what fans are you running? we are limited to only being able to run pusher fans unless you do a lot of fabrication. And most pushers dont work as efficient as pullers, so we have to make sure our fans are pulling enough CFM's. If you have been driving around while overheating, as strong as the RB is, you may have blown your headgasket. let me know what your compression numbers are, then give me a call. ill let you know what to do next.

If you are doing grip, you should have more than enough tires to go there, run the course and come back...

Its recommended you bring tools and food, but you dont have to...there are restaurants around the area, and an autozone open during the day.

As long as you pay $80 for the beginner session for grip, you can run as much as you like with the beginner group for grip.

Bald tires on the welded did suck on the way home. took like 2 hours, white knuckling it. If it wasn't the high wind gust trying to initiate me it was the rain patches in the shitty slow lane. so tired.

but the back to back events were so fun. lotta cars hobbled home or got towed out. But it was so good to drift horse thief and I got so much track time, even with staffing and shooting some photos!!

I just have to say that that was the best drift event I have ever participated in. So much track time, even when staffing.

It was cold as balls though, and the drive home was the hardest, most stressful, and scariest of my life. So much rain!!!!

Oh, and I really hope someone took videos of the event. Saw lots of cameras, but not too many video cameras. YouTube please.

I got a couple of the red s14, just give me a few days.

i am supposed to put a copy of CS3 on my comp tommorow. my bootleg copy of CS2 didnt work.

the the 1300 pics have already been narrowed down to 500. so 2morrow i will go through again and try to get a couple of everyones cars. I will keep all posted.

And thanks for all the pics of my car in drift mode and grip mode everyone. i love the one on the photobucket, where i am passing the S2000!! ate that dude up !!! lol. My single cam had eyes on that subie, till i ran out of gas and had to pull out quik :(

Thanks. I got kinda sick of fitting 6(yes, i said 6) tires, a jack, 2 stands, a tent, 2 chairs, and tools INSIDE my car with a passenger... A friend and i fabbed up a tow hitch to bolt to my car. I used to use a jet-ski trailer w/ a box, but i upgraded to the one i tow now.

Yeah, but you can't run your baller wheels. You have to run little 14's or 15's. lol.
