hey guys im new here!! let me introduce myself my names travis and i live in colorado, i have a 1992 240sx coupe with red top sr..
so my question is that my buddy left for the marines and sold his coupe and had a off brand t3 with a top mounted manifold on it.. well when he sold it he put the bottom mounted t25 back on cuz buyer wanted it idk but he gave me the t3 and manifold, with braided lines. so i was lookin around and i cant find too many 240's with t3 on em.. every bodys doin the gt2871.. so has anyone ran a t3? and my dad owns a welding and fabricating buisness so the downpipe can be made so i dont have to get one cuz the only one iv found that looked decent is the full race one and thats expesive!! lol so yea opinions????

Wait, whats the question? Your asking if anybody ran a T3 on an SR? You can run whatever freakin turbo you want as long as you have the right manifold and supporting mod to it. ALso, what kind of T3 is it? Internal wasted?

yea its externally wastegated.. i have a tial 38mm for it. and i guess my guestion was is this a good or bad turbo?? cuz iv heard good and bad about t3. some say good for drag and not drift, and some of the guys with ka-t say its great for drift so idk if it will have major lag or not idk.. and also for the mods i have 550cc injectors, emanage, and z31 map sittin in my garge im just waitin for a bigger turbo cuz i staill have t25 on the car

check out the picture thread and the "engine bay photo" thread...tons of ppl run T3 turbos....what are the specs on the turbo or if u dont know post up pics and someone here can probably tell you. I gotta ask tho, will you be doing "drift or drag"? or is this just your daily driver? T3s are nice turbos but for a daily it can be overkill...I had a t3/to4e 57 trim on my s14 sr making 350whp and it was so unnecessary for the streets.....not to mention that 38mm wastegate will be crazy loud....if you are new to boost and high hp cars stick with somethin small like a t25 or t28 till you get used to it....but to answer the second part of your question depending on the specs of the turbo it shouldnt be too laggy at all....mine spooled fast as hell

it all depends on what kind of T3 (trim and conpressor)it is to be honest. Older technology garret turbo but itll still get the job done. KA-T guys been using junkyard T3s for awhile now. Most T3s are pulled from Z31s. Shouldnt be too laggy. T3 at 14 psi on a SR should get you conservatively to 270whp range.

TONS of people are running T3's, and like it's said above, it can be both overkill and/or too much turbo if you've got a huge compressor on there... post up specs for the turbo and we'll let you know what you've got.
350whp can be achieved a BUNCH of different ways...

Ebay turbos are shit.
Everyone says they are epoxied together, But I donno from personal experience.
And your manifold looks like a ssautochrome/xs-power which are prone to cracking.

^^^
like what he siad above ebay turbo's are crap and not reliable. since you got it for free
either you rebuild it and balance the turbine shafts or get a new one.

... or, just run it with the intention of replacing whatever breaks when/if something does break. It's not like the turbo/manifold will crack and hurt anything else, just ruins your day (or weekend).
About the turbo - 50 a/r 57 trim is a great little turbo for 300whp or so. I say slap it on, get a Walbro 255/Rom tune/Z32 MAF/550cc/etc and have a blast.

just to help you out your turbo is going to hit your brake lines, I used that same exact manifold and a gt35-r .82. what you might need to do is get a master cylinder off of a 4 wheel disk brake pathfinder and it moves the lines to the oppisite side of the cylinder, unless you want to go ballin and get a better mannifold.
