What are the best manual transmissions to use with a relatively powerful turbocharged engine, aobut 300hp/300lbft?
Are there any adapters to convert a 5 speed car to a 6 speed transmission?

I think the S15 SR has a 6 speed tranny with it. Ive heard though its not as strong as a s14 5 speed and a lot of people that get an s15 sr use a s14 tranny with it.

What about the S13? I am looking into building a SilEighty as a project car, so I'm just doing my research now. I probably won't be able to afford this for another year or so, but in the mean time, I might be able to pick up some hard to find parts...
What are the stock transmissions good for? Are there any parts available to strengthen them?

There is no need for a six speed in these cars.
The stock transmissions that come behind the KA24 and SR20DET are more than adequate for 300hp.

Okay, thanks! I don't want any more than 300hp anyways, my plans for the 240SX are SilEighty conversion, and a great deal of drifting <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

Anybody know where our trannies top out? I've heard people say 500hp, but that's pretty crazy fast <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

From what I understand many of the drivetrain parts are near identical to the 300Z parts. So figure they put some power to the ground, so can we! (and we're lighter... less drivetrain shock)

I think I just broke my 6-speed after 9 months of use. Can my old KA 5-speed be retrofitted to the S15 motor?
