Im thinking of welding my sunroof shut so i can get an extra inch or 2 of headroom in my s14 (helmet hits just sitting normal). Only problem i forsee is that i would like to still have a headliner. If i remove all of the sunroof componets would i be able to use a non sunroof model s14 headliner in place of the one i have now or will there be fitment issues.
cliff notes
- can i put a non sunroof s14 headliner in a sunroof model with sunroof gutted out?

Yes, but the domelight won't have a place to mount, it sits on the sunroof frame. You could probably buy the non sunroof crossbar from the dealer and weld it in, or otherwise build something similar to secure it. Also, some non sunroof models came with a front spotlight, you'll have to rig it in place if the headliner you get has that opening.
Or, just recover the headliner and leave the holes for any lights covered, no one will ever know it was swapped.

I just did my sunroof and it all fits fine i cut out a brace from a non sunroof car and welded it in place so i could use the dome light and also i had to cut all the studs that the sunroof mounted to just to let you know that, here is my build http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=156723&highlight=project+s14 hope it helps ya.

And if you guys need, I have a few non sunroof headliners. Actually three of them currently, two are green but they all would do good recovered anyway.

Another option is to lower your seat, thats what I always do.
Wedge can make you custom rails and brackets for anything. Just a thought in case you didn't want to jump into something that would be rather complicated.

someone else will doing the welding i am no expert at that. I have only thought of doing this now because the car is about to get fresh paint so dojng major bodywork now would be a good idea. i will probably have to both lower my seat and remove the sunroof i am 6'3" and its a real bad fit.
