Hi guys, I posted before about VTC in an S14 SR20DET making a rattle noise in my engine between 1000-2000rpms and when I let go off the gas, didn't get any solutions. Now I have decided to get rid of the VTC. From the manual it said that the VTC advances(or retards, I dont know which) the cam by 20 degrees and it is active between 1050-5700rpm. Now I already have HKS step 2 264 for intake and 272 for exhaust.

My questions: Please note I want to eliminate VTC
1. Will I have the same torque curve with the VTC enabled and a stock cam when compared to VTC disabled and 264 step 2 intake cam?
2.Should I just remove the intake camsprocket and put an adjustable cam gear with the HKS cam shaft? and how much should I advance or retard the cam with this to get the same or better torque curve as the VTC?
3. If I get adjustable cam gears, will it be ok to use the S14 HKS step 2 264 cam or do I need to buy the S13 HKS intake camshaft?

Please note again I want to eliminate the VTC because of the noise and no fix and that I am using stock ECU, turbo and injectors. Thanks all for looking and for all your input. Please no arguing and no calling people names.

Why are you using a stock ECU with high duration cams?

VTC doesn't do anything anyways. Get rid of it and run 0 degrees on both sides.

I am still running stock cams. Are you saying I should run the hks step 2 cams with 0 degrees? will I have the same power as having the VTC with stock cams? And trust me disabling the VTC with stock cams makes a very noticeble difference.
