i have a s13 with a sr swap, and my reverse lights still dont work even though it is wired at the transmission correctly i checked everything out with a voltameter and everything checks out. the only thing i can think of is that my tail lights are wired incorrectly and was wondering what wires are running from the harness to the lights on a working s13
edit... i checked the fsm and now i dont have a working voltameter, but i can tell im not getting power from the green/white wire. and the fuse in the interior is not blown can i just wire from the switch to the lights?
my car was never auto.

can i just "hot wire" from the switch to the lights in the rear?

i never added that i have the kouki tail lights and since the install of them the reverse lights havent worked. the wiring to the bulb itself is correct i believe. green with white and the other being a ground correct? i know im not getting power to the green/white. so what would that mean?

did you do a tranny swap with the SR? was your car a automatic?

the car was never an auto and im not sure which tranny is in it. is the fuse inside the only one that would effect the lights.

From the wiring schematic it looks like power is coming on the G/L line (Section EL page 34 of the FSM) through the reverse switch on your tranny and then to the G/W for your backup light.
1. Disconnect reverse plug from tranny harness.
2. Check if you have a short when you put the car in reverse. If you do then your switch is working fine.
3. Turn car to "ON" position.
4. Check to see if you have 12V on G/L on tranny harness. If not then trace back for short or blown 10A fuse.
See if that works.

this might be a stupid question but how do you check for a short in a plug?

have you checked to see if the bulb is just burned out?

It's not a stupid question. You need to see my cousin when it comes to wiring.
Set your multimeter to measure resistance, Ohm symbol. Take the two lead and touch it together. That's a short. Now hold them apart. That's an open.
If your car is in neutral your reading should show an "open" because the switch is not depress meaning that you don't have a connection. Then put your car in reverse and it should show a "short."
