Original music is hard to come by, and I'm tired of seeing g-units dance to Soulja boy on Youtube. The Travis Barker Remix of Crank That [see below] has to be one of the sickest remixes to date. I'm no fan of the original, but then again, I'm no fan of the screa'mo version by I Set My Friends On Fire (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=245698495)

On the hip hop perspective, who would have seen a Canadian rapper come up? Candence Weapon's (http://www.myspace.com/cadenceweaponmusic) noise reminds me of screwed and chopped mixed with hyphy 8-bit, meeting Deltron in the back alley with a baseball bat. I'm still blindsided, I thought our northern maple neighbors only produced Avril's and Morissette's! My one wish is to hear Danger Mouse, Deltron and Candence Weapon battle it out under one roof. Fortunately for me, Candence Weapon will be playing live with Final Fantasy (http://nissanpacific.com/forum/calendar.html&code=showevent&calendar_id=1&event_id=10) at Nectar - Seattle, WA

Speaking of Hyphy, I was chewed out by a random guy sporting Fubu in downtown Seattle for bringing up the music venue 5lowershop. He stated, "oh don't even MENTION 5flowershop unless you been there, you don't know hyphy, what you saying boy?" I'm still mesmerized by the hypnotic symphany 666 Gangstaz chopped together, Welcome to Bayshores (http://www.5lowershop.org/mixtapes/crackhouse.mp3).

I use to be a fan of Breaking Benjiman, back in middle school, when 9th graders were the girls to chase and long division made me want to puke. There new single, Until The End (http://www.myspace.com/breakingbenjamin) starts out as gut punching hard kickin rock. In the midst of intense adrenaline pumping riffs, lead vocalist Ben Burnley gets weak in the pants and pussies out and gets whiny. I'm fed up with his emo lyrics. :coold:

http://www.myspace.com/breakingbenjamin

So who would have known Bullet for My Valentine (http://www.myspace.com/bulletformyvalentine) would cure depression after Ben Burnley spilled his guts. Bullet's single, All These Things I Hate, starts out with an acoustic lull, but instantly rebounds with a kick in the teeth! Unfortunately the song goes back into a soft melody, but builds back up for more intensity. My good friend Devin has two Alpine 12's inch subs and enough watts to power a mansion, I would highly recommend Bullet's album if your sick of panzies. Crank up there single Tears Don't Fall and donkey punch your closest friend, just rage the f*$# out. It's all about the double kicks!

http://www.myspace.com/bulletformyvalentine

In the end, I have to revert to my roots, DJ Silvia (http://www.myspace.com/mixcreater) produces addictive tracks. Silvia's mixed tape Night at ClubTraffic will forever ring throughout the Seattle Underground with rambunctious infections of ecstasy.

http://www.myspace.com/mixcreater

And whats with BassHunter's new single, Beer At The Bar? (http://www.myspace.com/basshunterdance) What a nerd, I'll sit on Ventrilo playing my favorite DotA maps and irc Anna for the rest of this Sunday evening.

http://www.myspace.com/basshunterdance

Speaking of gaming, LastChaos (http://lastchaos.aeriagames.com/) is one of the greatest free MMO's I've ever played. If you get a chance, download the 512MB installer and get the patches. I gave up on World of Warcraft, but unfortunately LastChaos kicked up another addictive habit!

http://lastchaos.aeriagames.com/

Whats a musician you would recommend for a highly addicted mp3 freak? The RIAA could hardly catch me these days, with torrent sites being shut down by the Acts to Protect Privacy. Thankfully Myspace Music and Last.FM has solved my habitual law breaking activities. :boink:

hmm well, i personally have been going back to old school shit like gangstarr, run DMC, kurtis blow, and ive been meaning to get some KRS-ONE too

also ive been listening to alot of UK hip hop, but none of that grime shit. its decent and im liking the beats better than alot of american shit right now.

but im not into it as much as you are so, i dunno, i guess i just recommend checking out some UK hip hop for now.

You might not be into it, but you should check out one of my favorite artists. Hes from Canada and his name is Deadmau5. The songs he makes are real, well fun to listen to (you'll realize why I said that after you listen to one of his songs). I love all of his work.
He does work with Melleefresh, a chick out of Canada too, listen to their song,
http://www.myspace.com/freshmau5 and listen to "Hey Baby".

Check out www.beatport.com/Deadmau5

That Travis Barker remix is lame, it's only popular because Travis Barker is popular, and personally I think his neck is too long, there are a million-times better remixes out there.

A couple original bands.

Born of Osiris
Between the Buried and Me
Enter Shikari

i fail to see how between the buried and my is original.

thats the problem with that scene. its good stuff, and BTBAM is awesome, but not that original. the drummer in my band listens to them all the time, im starting to take a liking to them. but most of that music, and the stuff i listen to sounds alike. its hard to sound different these days.

I AM NOT TRYING TO FLAME!!!!!

you should here what people say to me about what i listen to other than hip hop lol (hatebreed, bury your dead, nothingface, fear factory, pantera)

anyways, back to hip hop!!

i'm trying to think of a canadian rapper but i dont think i have his name right...Kaos i think it was, he had a song called "B-Boy stance" or something.

Their older stuff isn't THAT original...

But their newest CD's, Colors and Alaska are original. I honestly don't see how you could think they aren't...they're technically while maintaining a progressive stance on their instrumentals.

Iunno it's basically opinion-based but lalalalala i'm tapdancing

All the music out right now is suspect.

When I don't hear anything on the radio I like, I just revert back to the classics and work my way forward until I go back to the radio with the hopes of something better.

Right now, what I'm listening to is:

man i hate southern dance bull shit, the beats are koo, but the lyrics are trash.
But that rock mix does sound cool.

^^ k-os. He sings some, and rhymes, but he's hip hop and the beats are laid back. He's pretty cool I saw him in concert with gym class.

But my other favorite underground rapper from canada is DL incognito.
This guys hella fresh, inspiring and original. Every song is quality.
http://myspace.com/dlincognito

and that cadence guy is weird....im not really into him

I haven't found a band I really liked in a few years now.

It seems like 90 percent of the bands out there today have been castrated. I think the problem is all the dumbasses out there who actually thought the 80's were cool. Most of them were born in 87. None of them lived through the decade. I would rather sit for hours on end listening to anything from the 60's and 70's than to some synth pop rock band cry for 1:48 seconds, 11 consecutive times on a cd.

common market, grayskul, and macklemore are some of the many talented artists from seattle that i think have a fresh perspective on hip hop. i cant stand people complaining that there isnt any good music coming out lately though, there are forever going to be very very hungry people with wonderful creative musical ideas...you just have to look around enough and sift through the bullshit to find them.
