View Full Version : Modifying a 1G DSM BOV?

I'm replacing my stock shitty rubber hose/coupling hot pipe setup (on my S13 SR) with a steel hot pipe, and I'm doing it on the cheap. I have the hot pipe, which is all set to bolt in, and it's flanged for a GReddy Type S. But:
-I'm doing this on the cheap
-I'm only going to run stock boost, or *maybe* a slight increase, like 10 psi
-I'm doing this on the cheap
So I think a 1G DSM valve would serve me better. The flanges for a DSM valve and a GReddy type S look *very* similar. As best I can tell, you can put a GReddy on a 1G DSM flange by drilling holes in the flange, since the GReddy's bolt holes are closer together. I found a write-up for this on a DSM site.
Does anyone know if you can do the opposite? I.E. drill 2 holes next to the existing ones in the DSM BOV to fit the GReddy flange? Anyone have experience with this?

Anyone? I also want to recirculate, which is why I think the 1G DSM valve would be a good choice.

I don't want to spend the money on a GReddy when I don't really need the upgrade... :(

Drill it and try it out...
Plenty of people are running the 1G DSM BOVs...

Ya, drill and tap. If there is room and it seals why wouldnt it work.

make sure you use a rubber gasket of some sort

sorry to let you down but this will simply not work.... as i love my nissans i do think that the 4g63 is a great engine hence me owning one. so i took the time and took measurements and pix for you. the 1g dsm bov is skinnyer and longer then the greddy the greddy is pretty much a circle that is why people can drill and tap to adapt them i have made an adapter plate for that exact reason but here is the hard evidence in pictureshttp://a438.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/82/m_b515c56de4aa7d632fcc1a5ce3960d3d.jpg

dsm flange 3.5 inchs center of bolt to cent of bolt
greddy flange 2 5/8 inches " "
hope this answers you question

I can machine you a flange adaptor..
But you'll have to pay me.

Thanks for the info =D So it wouldn't be possible to just drill holes in the DSM valve and mount it that way...
Probably the next easiest solution would be to have a shop cut off the GReddy flange and weld on a DSM flange for a few bucks? Looking at those pictures, the DSM flange definitely looks skinnier, but it looks like it could still be welded onto the pipe if the GReddy flange were cut off.

yes, just pay a shop. couldnt be more then 35$ the dsm bov is a great choice for it can handle gobs of boost, with out leaking and very cheap too ($15- 25 at the junk yard )that is why i am running one on my sr20
and definitly rect it will run 100% better just gus mod it for the little louder pssssshhshhhhh

The little hole in the dsm bov unless gus modded make sure that hole sees boost pressure or else it work work that is very important not to block that hole. and yes if you wanted you could drill the holes through the bottom of the dsm bov to adapt it to the Greddy flange just be very careful. make sure you measure twice(2) and drill once (1)
