Has anyone here done their own steering rack seals? I know commonly we would all just say fuckit and throw in a reman'd rack, but after an accident I threw in freshly remanufactured steering rack and not long after it was leaking from the ends. Somehow the boot got a rip in it and now it's leaking everywhere. I don't want to go and get another steering rack, I'd rather put in the seals... And I don't want to band-aid fix it with another boot. So has anyone done their own seals? Does it require removing the entire rack or can it be done with inner rod off? Thanks in advance.

Why don't you just get the rack warrantied? Any decent rack should have a warranty. As far as replacing the seals goes I am pretty sure you have to dissassemble pretty much the whole rack to get to them. It's not a job that even 95% of repair shops would be willing and able to do.

The fsm has the procedure on how to do it.
