View Full Version : Air Brake Systems...
Well didnt really know where to post this but i figured this relatively more of chat more than tech because nobody has done this to my knowledge anyways here is the topic would a air brake system be possible on a car such as 240sx? In my opinion i think it would be possible if you look at the skematics it looks like alot is needed but those are for a bus or truck you could most likely simplify the size of the compressor and various other componets that it could fit very well...

oh and for those who dont know what air brakes are... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2VfmH1XNE0c and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_brake_%28road_vehicle%29

worst idea ever. honestly, I cam out of lurking to tell you that. die in a fucking fire.
I have come to the conclusion that you have never driven anything with air brakes, and that you have no idea how any type of brake works. The one thing that I can not figure out, is why you think you're smarter than the engineers employed in every division of automotive racing, where they still use hydraulic brakes.

I've never seen an air brake system that uses a rotor and caliper for one... 2) Air brakes suck and the reason they're used on large trucks is because it's easier. Hey I need to use my brakes multiple times.. Oh shit I'm out of air.

Yeah. This is one of those posts you'll wish you never posted.

Dumb idea? Check
Lack of Punctuation? Check
Butt hurt when it is shown that you're wrong? Check
Yep, this meets all the criteria for a flame-worthy n00b post.
Congratulations. Welcome to Zilvia.
BTW, reporting this post was fairly useless. You asked a fairly dumb question from an automotive engineering standpoint. If you can't handle the good with the bad, please, step away from your computer.
Adding a heavy, slowly reacting, braking system, run off a pump that causes parasitic horsepower loss to a vehicle that the people of this site use for performance reasons is NOT INTELLIGENT.

hey whats up man Im from medford
I think the idea would be interesting to see as like a college engineering project or something, but I have a feeling it would add a lot of extra weight....still something different tho, would be interesting to see it done but seems like a ton of work

It wouldn't even be an interesting project for anyone...it is definetly a worthless and stupid idea.
