View Full Version : How many GOOD/BAD transactions have you had in Zilvia Marketplace?

EndLeSS8
09-21-2007, 02:16 PM
From either a seller or buyer.
I'm not talking about extreme lowballing or last minute deciding not to want it, but I mean being ripped off or item not as described.

I read the Reviews forum every once in a while, and there seems to be a lot of bad sellers/buyers out there. However, there are more good sellers/buyers though.

What's your ratio?

For me, out of 9 transactions (8 things I bought, 1 I sold)
I had 3 bad transactions, 6 good transactions.

The good sellers are REALLY GOOD. Prompt, lot of communication, good packaging for stuff, shipping number, everything.

The 3 bad transactions, once I sent the money, communication was practically dead suddenly (like 1 PM reply every week), or the item was shipped and turned out not like it was stated.

I know a lot of people have done a lot more transactions on Zilvia than me, so I'm curious on their experiences.

I only like to deal with people local.

And since I live in so cal, thats no problem.

And this is not 240/z related.

So far so good. The one that didn't work out, was at least real good about giving me my money back real quick.

As much as people say "rep is useless" it sure is a good way to tell who's more then likely not gonna screw you (chmercer being an exception).

This was the only forum that made sense to post it in, because it isn't a sale or review, and it's not really offtopic because it's related to Zilvia in general. If this is the wrong forum, someone pls move it to the correct one. Thanks.

Same here. I rather deal locally, and i live in so cal.

I've only used the zilvia marketplace twice, and they both went real smooth. Good sellers.

I've dealt with some of the shops, and have had pretty much nothing but good experiences.

The buyers I've dealt with are a mixed lot. There are some who are very quick to set up a date, show up, and pay up, but there are a LOT who just kick tires and pull your chain.

The private sellers have typically told the truth and shipped parts out on time.

Those who I've lent parts to, however, have generally fucked me over. I've lent wheels to people only to not ever get them back and I lent a fender roller to a friend, who then lent it to another friend, who finally lent it to another friend who is refusing to respond. I'm being a good sport and not putting his name out but quite a few of the SoCal drift guys know him and if I don't get it back soon, his reputation will be rightfully tarnished.

Almost got scammed by the guy who was trying to sell the MB weapon wheels.

I absolutely HATE selling shit on zilvia because half the people here are broke ass bitches that rip me off because they can't afford things the honest way. I only sell to those I know, or locally, but even then I'm very weary. I don't like to buy here either unless the seller has a good rep, or is local.
People like plss13, thinkjdm, driftbetty are all going to burn in hell one day. I believe it so.

I've been pretty fortunate w/my transactions. i've bought several things and sold one,and I've only had one minor incident in which, what i paid for was not exactly what i got(it was missng a part). I've had some close calls, where i wasn't sure if i was gonna get what i paid for(mb weapons gb, and some Q45 calipers) but fortunately things worked out. when i buy i usually just use common sense, much the same way i do w/ebay. If something seems too good to be true it usually is.

My dealings have been all positive, except for one, and that was no fault of me or my buyer, things happened.
I have only bought from people who I knew personally, 2 of those times actually driving to those persons' homes or meeting somewhere on neutral grounds.

I have had 2 bad experiences. Kabukie was just generally a pain in the ass. He lied, lagged, and tried to sell the parts out from under me just to get his money 1 day sooner. Wahl136 just fucked everything up and he double sold the parts I paid for. I think I have had about 4 good transactions (1 out of state and 3 local) but from now on I think I will stick to local deals only. As far as selling parts goes, people are a pain in the ass! Everybody basically wants you to give your parts away.

i've sold and bought a few things off here and pretty much haven't had any trouble. All the buyers that i've sold to were pretty quick w/ sending me money through paypal. Almost everything i've purchased was a smooth transaction. vutony is a really good seller + he's local. for some reason he's always got something i need and i keep getting my stuff from him.

I try to stick to people that have legitimate businesses.

The one time I did get involved in a group buy organized by a group of forum members I got burned bad. But, I got my money back (after several months, and not from the sellers either. Had to go through my CC company), lesson learned.

Mostly I avoid the market place because of all the stupid shit that goes down.

There seem to be way too shady sellers in there or people that don't have a clue about what they're doing.

I really feel that the way the Markeplace works needs to be reviewed and overhauled.

I've sold a bunch here as well.

Had 2 flaky buyers - one with a strange Paypal hold issue, the other who swore up & down that he'd mailed payment for some wheels (probably hoping to scam me out of them) - after 3 weeks I called him on his bullshit.

Also been scammed out of $40 (I'd say I lucked out that it wasn't more).

All my customers are happy (as far as I can tell). I've had a few items get broken in transit, but luckily they were insured. I've also been slow to ship things at times, but I've been blessed with patient and forgiving customers.

I love the classifieds section here on zilvia... I'd say about 75% of all the aftermarket stuff on my car is from the classifieds. with that being said, I only had about 3 items shipped to me, all of which were luckily successful (which were all paypal verified). I prefer to buy locally tho (glad to live in socal, lol).

I also sell a lot (not lately tho) of stuff on here too. I've only had one thing go kinda wrong on me. A guy wanted to purchase some chuki bumper grills from me, and have it shipped to his pad. So he paypal'ed me the money, and I shipped it and gave him the shipping tracking number. A few weeks later, he emailed me asking where the package is... I checked the tracking number, and it said that it was delivered. I told him that it said it was delivered and to check the tracking number and his local UPSP. After that, I never got a responded email. I emailed him for the next few days to verify if it ever came in, but he never responded back, so I assumed that he got it and went on with his life.
about a month later, a package came back to me in the mail, it was my package I sent to him. There was a returned stamp, and a letter from USPS saying it said it was never picked up.
I emailed him again about me recieving it back, and asked if he wanted me to resend it. Till this day, I have not ever recieved an email from him.

I have usually gotten to know quite a few people on here before I buy from them...

one person let me down
bitched and moaned another to pick up the pace once... but he was honest so it was all good.

people that make excuses/dishonest piss me off, fucking grow some balls and tell it like it is!

not everyone is perfect and we got to watch out for ourselves because sometimes, people dont give a shit about you or are there to hold your hand if someone ran off with your shit.

tuff love but its just a part of life

anyways I try and buy from locals along with friends or shops I have good communication/rep with, keeping it local helps remove some of the rift-raft but isnt completely bullet proof

well ive had GREAT experiences with dealing with zilvia members except for 1 buy which i finally received my bride seat but not after 2 long months of waiting for the shipper to ship it out. other then that ive sold quite a bit of stuff and bought a crap more and i havent really had a bad experience nor been scammed. maybe its just cause i do my research on the buyer/seller before i close the deal.

I have had nothing but good experiences. I have purchased:

My current 240
FMIC
couple sets of wheels
a new dash...that later cracked again :(
coilovers
many many stock parts
exhaust
S14 seats
and probably a ton of other crap.

All in all I have $5000-6000 in Zilvia's marketplace between 2002-2006. Somethings have taken longer to receive than expected but I'm a patient guy and have always received my items.

I was a bad seller once. I sold a guy some Z32 brakes that apparently needed a rebuild. I promptly refunded a portion of his money that we agreed upon.

So far i've had

4 good transactions and 2 bad ones. Ratio sucks but one item was at a too good to be true price, which i'm going to get my money back (thank god for paypal), the other item was some of wahl236 or whatever's stuff. It says it's stuck in customs in NY because he didn't include proper papers with it.

I've also sold a set of sideskirts, the buyer received them, installed them but I got no word after that.

Let's just say though, that after being scammed twice in 2 weeks, I'm becoming a bit smarter with my buying tactics...

Bought and sold a few things and never had a really bad experience where I've been scammed out of money.
Worst is usually slow shipping after paying for an item but I've learned to be patient. Also don't buy a part here that you need yesterday to make your daily run - that's just stupid.
Some funny/odd/annoying thigns:
- Sold a 5speed driveshaft that I have previously bought here when I parted out my old S14. Guy bitched about me selling him a wrong shaft. After various PMs I find out he was only 'eye-balling' the lenght.
- Tried to buy an S13 fender but after going back and forth for a while the kid tells me to come and take it off becuase he couldn't...
- Met up a guy for an S13 Nurspec I was selling. Turns out he just wanted to 'see' what a 3 inch exhaust looked like and that his buddy's shop could build him one. I was so pissed.
- Almost sold a KA until the idiot tells me he had no access to a truck and would I deliver it to San Diego to him.
And so on and so on... I've learned to only deal with members with high post counts and locally.

I bought a set of seatbelts from a guy who was parting out his car about 3yrs ago. I got the package about 2weeks later and only one seatbelt was in there and I mean just one side of one seatbelt WTF.... So I went round and round with this guy leaving him messages and what not for 4 weeks and finally I recieved another package in the mail and it was the matching side to the one I had already recieved. Well by this time im totally pissed and made a few phone calls to some people I know in his area. I help run a sportbike website www.sportbikes.net and there arent too many that dont know who I am on that site so I got about 20 guys in a stunt riding group that rolled over to this KID's house yes KID he was 15 my buddys just so happened to live less than 5miles away. When they all showed up at his house his mom answered the door and about shit herself. He explained the situation and called for her son and he really pissed himself when he looked outside. I told this guy I was sending an army after him and he didnt believe me LOL.... I got a check a week later for my full amount back and a 3 page apology letter from the kid his mom apparently made him sell his xbox and ps2 to pay her off for paying me LOL....

I parted out my whole hatch and sold everything on here. I had a lot of flakers or window shoppers, but no scammers. Its annoying to have 10+ people come look at the same engine with no cash and say I have to talk to my dad or get money I'll be back. Then never hear from them again or have them email and say "oh I cant get the money" or "my parentes said no". The saddest part is they'll call you all day long everyday until they get to see the parts then you can't get a hold of them after that, and you'll be lucky to get an email to say they can't get it.

As for buying I have had nothing but good experiences. I haven't boughten too much on here from personal, and nothing over $150 that I can recall. I've boughten more from the business' on here and I've always had good experiences with them.

Luckly I have had nothing but good experience on here.
Like someone mentioned earlier, parts take a little longer to be shipped sometimes, but I'm in no hurry when I buy things. As long as I get the part I paid for and its int he condition it was described.

I've had mostly great experiences, sold stuff 4 or 5 times with great success (and got to meet other cool 240 guys in the process), and bought a ton of stuff, usually for great deals.

It's easy living in socal though, because none of the stuff has to be shipped, and people are much less likely to scam you when you know where they live/etc. I deal in cash, locally.

The only bad experience was Wahl136 and all his bullshit. I still trust the marketplace though.

I was screwed once but it was my fault. I sold an s14 a few years ago to a kid that was coming from NY to mass to sell his VW. I met him in mass where the deal was going down. He sold the VW and bought my car. He realized he left his plates on the vw he sold that had just drove away. So I let him use my plates that were on the car and he said hed mail them. He took the car for a test drive before buying the car, but a few days later I got an email saying all the shocks were blown and he wasnt returning my plates so i had to pay the dmv- which i hate to do- for them
