Check for air leaks behind the MAFS and check the MAFS itself. check fuel pressure.

well yesterday i kept pulling the coolent temp sensor plug in and out. would give it throttle and the engine would rev up to 4500rpm. but wont pass that. i would try to hold it at 3000rpm but it would die slowly. would the fuel pump not be flowing at heavy throttle???

Drop in a MAF that you know 100% works. Most of the time that's the issue, faulty MAF.

Bad maf (solder problem).

Disconnected TPS.

Destroyed coolant temp.

Any black smoke out of the exhaust while this is going on?

I agree w/ Johngriff, also like stinky_180 said pull the codes.

im going to check the maf with my buddies.

i thought it was the tps., but everytime the motor is idling i disconnected the tps and it shuts down. i had replaced the cts with a spare one i had. no black smoke out of the exhaust after start and warm up.

so im going to check all these things when i get home.
thanks guys ill check up tommorow see if any of these tips work.

yea def check the codes if shes throwing any, secoundly does it want to stay running (as in sputering when you give it some gas) i had a problem simailar to this or what that guy said about how his car wont go over 4500rpms it ened up one of the wires ripped out from my ECU which happened to be one for distrubtor, which out the car in safe mode. but ofcourse that was on a honda. other then that bust out a DVOM and start checking plugs, start with TPShttp://www.zilvia.net/f/http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p305/sickcarzdriver/hacthlove.jpg

ok so pulled the codes and it was....
*12=maf
*13=coolent temp. sensor

now, i switched the maf from a running s13 dohc car and still did the same thing (step on gas dies). i got my sr20det blktop maf threw it on and the car runs hesitates a bit but rpm goes up. im like wtf. sr maf workin on a s13 kade.

what could be doing that the kade wont run with the s13 maf kade. would the coolent temp. sensor have a conflict with the kade maf.

why would the sr maf work on the s13 kade.

anyone got ideas what could be worng??

unplug the MAF, start it, let it idle for a minute or 2, with it still idling plug the MAF back in and see if it still happens...

the same exact thing happened to me after i put a 96' KA into my 93' ...

i have unplugged the maf and it stays idle, but when i plug it, it does die down seconds after its plugged in.

Buy a new coolant sensor, they are like $25. Grab another MAFS plug it in and see what happens.
