Ready to have my nismo thermostat installed, and it came with no gaskets. So are there any type of gaskets I should get, so when its installed I have no problems afterwards? If you could also give the name of the gasket so I get the right part.

I appreciate any help, having cooling system flush, new hoses, and this thermostat done wed. So I'm trying to make sure I have everything

some of the blue rtv seal (I think) works fine

correct me if im wrong but is the only gasket needed called the thermostat housing gasket? I mean I don't mind paying for gasket, just for peace of mind knowing its done right. I'm having a mechanic do install since I"m not familiar with coolant systems as it is, and have problems now that I don't want to make worse.

check the fsm
there's no paper gasket
you use "liquid gasket" aka RTV

its damn hard to mess it up DIY. i suggest saving ur cash. building a lego house is probably more complicated. just follow the steps in the FSM if you're worried about it.

make sure the metal is cleaned of the old gasket material, place a small bead of RTV around the housing, install the new thermo, bolt on waterneck, and torque bolts to spec.

here is the RTV, avaible at any auto part store

Just like everyone else said, RTV. I put a Nismo thermostat on my SR back in December or so. All you have to do is clean metal, put RTV on, tighten bolts, and wait to dry.

you spread RTV around evenly on the thermostat housing and the just bolt it back up. i used FIPG (form inplace gasket) from toyota and it works out fine.

just as a tip, and for all future references, whenever i have to use a sealant i always use Hondabond, its a honda factory sealant and it always works great and i never have had anything leak on me with it. A tube of it will also last a very long time because you only use such a little bit on whatever you are sealing. Instead of seeing that oozing ring of blue or orange sealant, everything will look like it was factory sealed.

Hondabond is the best.

It's been used in both my old S13 and my current Z32. Good stuff. Recommended to me by a Nissan Master Tech, lol.
