A friend of mine is looking for some wheels, he wants them to have a wide lip and he said he wants something like he sees in videos of drifting cars in Japan. We don't often see many wheels with really nice lips around here alot so we don't really know what companies to look at. And not being able to read Japanese doesn't help...

Actually sxfro, takakaira does not have what this guy's friend is looking for. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/dozingoff.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

You will want to tell him to go with SSR (which are hard to find stateside), Work, Watanabe (EXPENSIVEEEEE) and other guys like Kei Office... all 'near impossible to find in the US, unless you're in socal, in which case you can go to SO CAL ALTA (SoCal Alteration) and get butt-raped then robbed for a set of 15" SSR rims. (they quoted me 1,200 for a set of USED 15x7 +0 or so SSR Mesh rims -- not sure if it was reverse or formula though) ... nuts.

On the topic of your "friend", s/he sounds like another wannabe-japanese JDM freak who doesn't know anything about cars. &nbsp;(that's my diagnostic) How far off am I? &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sly.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':sly:'>

Pretty close LOL. He drives an Accord. And just so you know that's not really why he's my friend. I worked with him for a while and then he got into the import scene.

EDIT: It looks as though you think this is me. Its not. Though I like rims with a wide lip I am not into them for "drifting." That's all I need... blow out a tire or hit a curb and fuck up a $500 rim....

True I don't have a 240SX yet but I am actively looking. The market near me sucks ass right now... the ONLY one within 100 miles with a 5spd has 175k on it.... Since I don;t know yet about the SR20 swap that I had originally wanted to do I want something with less miles.

haha... don't take offence at my comment, I wasn't implying it WAS you, but the thought had entered my mind. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'> &nbsp;Just FYI though, most of the wheels your friend is looking for (probably 4*100 bolt pattern, but possibly 5*100) are going to be extremely hard to find, simply because no one with an (x)*100 bolt pattern runs (afaik) those types of rims.

In fact, i'd be quite surprised if SSR/Work/Watanabe made their fat-lip type rims in an offset low enough to get the polished wide-lip look. (simply because FWD cars generally do not have such low offsets... in fact I've never seen an FWD car with anything lower than +30 or so).

Just me speculating... some more. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

Some links that may help (http://www.steamymirror.com/dsc240sx/link/linkscorporate.htm)

Often times they will have an English version of their websites and links to distributors. Good luck <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>
