so i'm rebuilding my motor(s14 sr20det) and go to put the lifters back in and discover all the exhaust hydraulic lifters are missing their internals... They are simply the shell and the cap. I'm wondering if this had a purpose or the guy who owned the car before fucked up...

The car has a hks 256/256 cam in that same with the car. All the intake lifters were fine..

So now I need to find lifters and at 60 a piece I'm starting to look into buying a set of solids. Would they be considered worth it. I have put bc springs and retainers on now and as i was planning on using this cam for the time being anyway until i upgrade to a bc 272.

Would this be a good idea with this cam? Also i found this set of BLE's for sale that are threaded so you don't have to mess around with shims. Seem to be a good idea but wondering if anyone has had any experience with this and could give me some feedback

Solid lifters are great if you don't mind more frequent (6k miles I believe) inspection intervals. Hydraulics are nice for stockers, because they're easy, but they don't rev as well (or lift as well).

Never seen that company's products though, only HKS and Tomei... they might be good?

what you need is the solid lifter conversion for your stock lifters.. it's like the MBV lifter but with off the shelf parts.

Maybe you could post a picture of these lifters that are missing the internals. That doesnt make too much sense. At least I dont know what you mean by this.

i pulled the exhaust ones completely apart and found that they have been shimed inside... I'm now thinking that he did they custom solid lifter change on them. I'm wondering why he would only have done the exhuast ones though...

i got a fresh regring on my valves so i'll have to measure the lash after i install them back in and check and see i guess?
i've heard about .005" clearence? does that sound about right?

i'm still puzzled as to why he would have run only one side solid where as the other still hydraulic

any input?
thanks
