The first thing I'll say is I am a newbie here on Zilvia, I just bought a 240 and I will be working on it myself. The reason I joined is to gain technical knowledge on the subject and to be able to interact with people once in a while.
It really upset me when I saw this thread in the "chat" section get closed: 90 Hatch build progress...lots of pictures (http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=152422) I was very interested in this thread because he had some unique things going on with swapping parts between cars.
The thread starts off with many pictures, which can be sucky for 56k users, but who uses 56k anymore? Also in many browsers there is an option to load the pictures after the text, so this shouldn't be an issue. Also the picture thread doesn't allow for discussion about any specific topic, so if people wanted to discuss about his car or give him props where are people supposed to do that?
Also, sadly, he was flamed many times for showing the progress of his car, and a couple times by a very active poster. If any moderator attention should be paid to a thread, it should be towards this kind of harassment behavior. Was any action taken upon the people harassing this guy? I don't care how many useful threads you have posted, ripping on people like aaron did to 240sx_sr20det just isn't cool. You wouldn't say that kind of stuff to someones face in real life, why say it on the internet?
240sx_sr20det was completely shut down by the moderator that closed the thread. He was saying that his thread wasn't useful, but to a new 240 owner, it was useful to me.
Just because a thread existed before for this kind of thing doesn't make a new thread invalid. What would the forum be without new posts? Posts and threads are what makes a forum alive, if people aren't allowed to post what they want (within the rules of course) then it degrades the quality of the forum.
If anything, if your policy is to close any thread that isn't useful in the "chat" forum, at least write it in the rules.
The only rules broken by anyone in the thread were by people flaming. You wonder why their post count is so high when they are flaming people all day?
From chat forum rules:
"Please respect others and the community. Not everyone can see eye to eye, although this does not permit you to attack other members. If you have a problem send them an email or PM."

u dont derserve a thread imo
its nothing fancy. nothing crazy. i didnt laern or see anything cool
looks like any other turn key sr powered car kids buy these days
u should paint ur car
before kouki lamps.
and what is with that stupid metal thing? is that your 'fan shroud??
get rid of it. looks horrendously terrible."
Was any action taken against this member? No moderator came in and said that that kind of post was out of line. They just look the other way when the flames were on, stating: "While I respect your effort and all, this thread is teaching nothing new, no new ground is being broken and most of what you're going to get is flames, as you have likely seen..." This shows that the moderators are looking the other way when these kinds of flames come about. Aren't you trying to stop harassment? By doing this it almost encourages it.
If I was a jackass like Dousan_PG I could exploit this fact, as long as I flame a bunch of times then a moderator will come along and close the thread.
I just wanted to bring this to the attention of whoever is in charge, because it seems it is a recurring theme in these forums, making me not want to view this site. You guys have a business to run, and driving customers away is the issue. Do you really think active posters like this make you guys more money than they drive away?
Thank you for hearing this
