finally got the sr running in the s13 coupe. but i cant move the car. put it in gear and then release the clutch all the way and nothing. dosent catch. this is the same for every gear. just bled the clutch system and it feels nice and firm. seems like the pedal is off by enough that the clutch dosent engage but i have a little bit of play on the pedal when its up so that might rule out the rod that connects the pedal and the clutch master. any info greatly appreciated thanks.

if I have to, the tranny is comming off but trying to see what usually causes a problem like mines. Went under and tried adjusting the clutch master rod and noticed its leaking slightly at the boot. fluid level is fine and i can see the clutch fork move fine. Im going to change this but what else could it be?

how long has the car been sitting? Brakes might be seized

Well normally when you're under the car where the SLAVE cylinder is, if it's leaking around/in the boot it means that your slave cylinder is bad.
Go buy a new one, you live in the bay area so go to Monument car parts and get a new one for ten bucks.

Does the tranny engage fine but the clutch isn't disengaging?

slave isnt leaking, the clutch master cylinder boot has a tiny leak.
symptoms
can shift through all gears while car is running with out touching clutch pedal, no grinds.
put it in any gear using the clutch pedal normally and nothing. idle is not affected nor do i hear anything.
brakes are fine, been sitting for 1 month.
slave pushes fork as it should
clutch pedal feels fishy. cant feel any pressure plate action when stepping on the pedal. all I feel is a constant resistant on the pedal with no signs of pressure plate.
found a thread similar to my problem but this guy had a bad clutch. im pretty sure my clutch is good because i know the car was running from the previous owner.

note
when installing the tranny on the motor before drop in, the input shaft wouldnt go in the clutch disc gears as easy, everything else went smooth.
any help greatly appreciated. thanks.

If the fork moves then that's not your problem. You need to take the transmission off and find the culprit. What did your clutch look like when you had the transmission off. Did you inspect it. The only thing I can think of is that your input shaft is broken or the teeth are ripped off or your clutch is completely worn out from a cracked flywheel. Either way you wont know until you have it off.

well let me break it down....
so your saying that when the car is turned on and put it in gear while releasing the clutch pedal the car doesn't move at all.... right?
then my question is: Does your car stall and shut off when you release the clutch pedal or does your car keep running while it is still in gear?....
there are a couple of reason why this could happen but answer that question first.....

.
engine idles perfect using and not using the pedal, no sounds, grinds, idle drop or surge, no sounds comming from clutch area and transmission. I remember putting in the driveshaft yoke while installing my drive shaft back and I can spin it while in neutral but not when in gear, maybe 5th spun a little

Did you check the clutch assembly when putting in the engine. Its slam worn out. All of your symptoms are pointing towards that. If you can shift it into gear when running and let the clutch pedel out in gear and no movement its because your clutch has nothing left of it. Get a new clutch. If you did your own engine swap you should have no problems swapping out the clutch. Dont forget to have the flywheel resurfaced.

this might sound stupid but check if you installed the shifter correctly

then from what i hear its all drive train issues...lol hmmm.... try looking at your pressure plate and clutch.. if you could post pics of the parts here so everyone could look at it and tell you whats wrong or not... so yea

That's what it felt like at the track when I snapped an axle shaft, fixed that, then snapped the output shaft. Funtimes.:2f2f:

im no clutch expert but ive seen worn out and new clutch parts and mines seemed almost new. im going to change to a new master, slave, and maybe the clutch damper if needed.
im leaning towards the pressure plate because normally i can feel the fork hitting the pressure plate while stepping on the clutch but all i feel is a constant reisitant similar to a stiff spring. or a badly adjusted clutch master rod so its kind of holding the clutch from engaging. anyone have had this happen to them before? Thanks for the help

I'm having this SAME exact issue?
Did you ever get it figured out?
I don't think it's my clutch, because I never had ANY slipping issues, and then a couple days ago, I'm just driving along, go to shift to fifth, and it revs to like 5k, no resistance after I press the pedal.
Same thing, shifting in all gears with no pedal etc, no movement, no idle change.

Was the tranny pulled off the motor before the drop?
Or did you drop the whole motor set in as is?

The tranny was pulled, before hand, and then it was dropped in as a whole.
Turned out to be that my clutch had shattered and severed the connection between the meat of the clutch and the input spline.
It was crazy. My mechanic said he had never seen that happen, even after working on fully built drift cars.
My TOB was frozen, and my slave cylinder was leaking badly.
Got it all fixed, and now it's really smooth.
