it's always been slow. look, it's midnight on the west coast, 2 am here in the midwest. and there's like 70 people viewing the "chat" section alone. this board has like a billion lurkers.
ninjedit: there are 464 users on right now. compare that to a quick loading 240 site like 240sxforums, where there are 124 people on. the load on zilvia is always huge. it's the tradeoff for being the site with the most useful information.

My Zilvia loads "kinda" slow? I dunno.
It's a fine trade off for me. Nothing is perfect.
You can go to shitty fast forums where you get no info quick, or you can go on Zilvia where there is life, and stupid people get put in their place.

We are always trying to upgrade Zilvia's servers and load speeds.
We are still a fairly small site in comparison to some others already mentioned.
Zilvia.net isn't a business. Almost everything we take in, goes right back into server costs and trying to improve the site.

Way to be objective.
1. You're complaining about a difference of 24ms
2. You're physically closer to NICO's servers than Zilvia's (which are in CO).
3. You're not taking into account the amount of hops between servers your data has to go through.
For me:
Zilvia pings at 189ms average, with 18 hops
NICO pings at 155ms average, with 14 hops.
So for me, the difference was 34ms.
If you were complaining about .5/s or more of lag, I could understand your complaint.
I guess if one of us had a right to complain about Zilvia being slow, it's me, since my average is 145ms slower than yours.
I don't, because it's not slow. When/if it is slow (or if things are being wonky), Bob and Mark and I (me being the cheer squad) get the problem resolved so that things run smooth and fast as normal.
That said, this feels like yet another trolling thread. You say that you like Zilvia more, so why complain about less time than the blink of an eye? It just doesn't make sense to me.
Anyway, there's not going to be any Zilvia vs. NICO flaming, because there is no Zilvia vs. NICO drama.
Also, if your page loading really does feel slow, turn off signatures and avatars. 95% of the data loaded in a page load is image data.

Zilvia is always speedy for me.
You should also go into your UserCp and change the Default Thread Cut-off Range. This should speed things up a tad for you.
Just an FYI......we are configuring a new, faster front-end server and hope to have it online in the next week or so. Mark and I have just been super busy at our real jobs....yes, we have real jobs.
BTW, pinging is dependant on your distance to server:
Pinging www.zilvia.net [64.78.184.41] with 32 bytes of data:

Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:

Pinging www.nicoclub.com [209.31.183.240] with 32 bytes of data:

actually, it does receiving data at a high ms times would cause slow loading times. ping is more important than bandwidth

my computer isn't the problem not sure if you guys know anything about computers but here are my specs:
Intel Core Duo 2 E6600 @ 3.2GHz
Crucial 10th Anniversary 2GB ( 2x1GB )
and to the previous member saying I was trolling. I think zilvia.net should be better than nico in every aspect and it may be better in this aspect after the new servers coming up. I know I will appreciate the quicker load
as far as the firefox speed up I have used it a few times and find it's slower on certain sites and can mess up from sending so many requests.
I'd like to thank the people who negative reped me

Shuddup or put out!!! You wanna help with zilvia being slow? Contribute some money for bigger/better servers then buddy. Like Kevin already stated, zilvia dont make money from anything, whatever lil money the site gets from the generousity of advertisers, goes right back into the system in bandwidth, server and up keep fees. You wanna make zilvia a better place, go buy some stickers, become a premie or just donate some money for shiets and giggles and because you <3 this place...;)

Zilvia is pretty quick, configure your network better
less nico vs zilvia BS
I also noticed that with some firewall and antivirus programs actually bog down a computer as part of its excuse for protecting you. Not saying CPU load but network traffic load.
I just ditched kaspersky for AVG because AVG never slowed me down and kaspersky was starting to restrict image and site load. Some firewall apps also get extremely sensitive and also participate in site restriction, example would be zone alarm.

Please enlighten us as to how exactly it oculd be faster.
Beyond moving the server closer to your location, I'm not seeing it.
