View Full Version : Anyone with BC 272's
Besides the required spring and retainers are these cams drop in's.
A buddy just installed a pair in a red top SR20 but they seem to get hung up on a couple followers while turning the engine over manually?
BTW he says he will go ahead and start it and that it should be fine once the lifters are lubricated. Does that sound right?

Hope your friend lubricated everything really well with the supplied assembly lube.
Are you talking about the bc stg. 3's? With the stg. 3's its required to upgrade your valvetrain (springs & retainers). The lift and duration is huge for oem valvetrain. You wont be able to hit high rpm's with out a valvetrain upgrade. You will have coil bind, valve float, rocker stoppers moving from place, bent valve's and etc....
He has the Stage 3 cams upgraded springs and retainers and rocker stoppers and its lubed with the supplied assembly lube. Just can't figure out why it gets stuck when turning it over. Looks like the exhaust cam at cylinder 1 and 3 is getting hung up on the followers as the cam tries to open the respective valves

I know this doesn't help, but I had the stage 2's installed in my ka24de and they snapped. A buddy of mine had his snap after about a month. I talked with BC himself and he sent out a couple more- I decided to take the cams to a mechanic this time and he had the same problem, the mechanic told me if he did install them they wouldn't line up right. I don't trust BC.
^^ that could explain it, anyone else?
For the morning crowd any suggestions

did he have the head checked to see if it was straight? with the new cam there may not be as much tolerance with the cam journals, and thus the cam is straight and the head is bent, causing the binding? get the head checked.
