I was just wondering do you really need the bottom locking perch on coilovers? With out it will the car lower its self, or have any of you guys been driving on one perch with out problems??

vibration will cause it to loosen, bad idea

Are you talking about the one that locks the bottom mount to the shock body or the one that locks the spring preload. both are very important, your shocks could magically shorten or lengthen or your springs could loose or gain preload
.
Not safe imo.

i've heard of people that run ultra low locking the perch to the bottom mount. they do it to get more threads to work with on the shock body. that would theoretically work, but would only be a good idea if you want your muffler to drag on the ground all the time.

otherwise it's a bad idea. hell, one of my perches moved on my front coilover even with the locking ring. it just wasn't tight enough.
