The debut of Honda's all-new, 2008 Honda Accord is a few months away, but spy shooters Brenda Priddy & Co. have caught a lightly-disguised prototype of the 8th-generation model out in the wild. Honda is promising more refinement, efficiency and power for the latest model, which is entering its 32nd year on the market.
Styling of the 2008 model, due in showrooms late this year, features a wide stance, large wheels, and clean, flowing styling. From what is seen in the photos, it's not a ground-breaking design, but considering its role as the automaker's volume machine that is consistently one of the top-selling vehicles in the U.S., it's a look that should keep customers flowing into the showrooms.
The car is said to be larger overall than the current model and, unlike the Toyota Camry, the range will include the new Accord Coupe, which has also been recently spied prowling around after its concept debut at the 2007 Detroit show. The sedan takes elements of Coupe, but will clearly have its own feel.
Engine choices are still under wraps, but expect an updated version of the automaker's 3.5-liter V-6, which should make somewhere in the neighborhood of the 270 hp range, along with a 2.4-liter four with around 180 hp.
It is unclear as of yet is if the new Accord will come with a hybrid offering, but rumors of a diesel option, along with cylinder deactivation for the gas engine, have been circulating.
