Okay, so I attempted fixing my car this weekend, and realized that the part that holds my control arms on is bent to badly to put back in any kind of straight manner (ie. my alignment would never be right-on again), so I need to locate a new one...

My problem is, wtf is this thing's correct name? I wanna call it the front suspension member, but that might not be right.  It's the crossbar that goes across the car and is bolted to the chassis.  It holds both (left and right) lower control arms on the car.  Could someone with a FSM tell me the proper name for this thing so I can try to find one? (anyone have any ideas on costs?)

Thanks everyone, I really want my car runnin again <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('>

I think www.car-part.com calls it an engine cradle. &nbsp;About $200 is the top end. &nbsp;

Well, it would either be the big solid metal part thta hold the engine mounts among other things which uiuc240 mentioned, or maybe you are just talking about the anti-roll bar/chassis brace(its the round rod going between the control arms). If its the second, which is what i'd guess you are talking about, its real easy to swap out and you should be able to find it cheap in a junk yard.

well i already ordered the part, it's called one of two things, depending on who you're talking to:
1) Engine cradle - not quite correct, but for car-part.com they tend to generalize areas of parts, and that's what it most closely relates to... and since part yards mostly use that database... there u go.

2) Front Suspension Cross Member - this is the correct term

Wow. If the sway bar was all that was holding the control arms on i'd be mighty scared! &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':hehe:'>

The fron suspension crossmember is the thing with two rubber boots connecting to it right?
I always called it the front crossmember because that is people people tell me to jack the car up with.

rubber boots? the only thing I can think of off the top of my drunken head is the steering linkage and some minor rubber on the bakll joints... the front suspension member holds the control arms on (the controll arms have your hubs, rotors, brakes, etc mounted on em, sway bar and stteering linkage too)
here's a pic of it:
