I installed the JDM S13 DCC in my daily this weekend and figured id do a write up on it. As a basis i used this post on NICO by Beatupsx http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=160285
I will try do go more in depth to make this install more simple. Some words will be quoted from that post.
^^ This write up is way more printer friendly, i suggest if you have a good idea of what you need to do print that thread and refer to mine if you have any questions, there are slight differences.
Here is the list of parts you will need.
1. JDM S13 Digital climate control unit
2. JDM S13 Digital climate control sub-harness
3. JDM S13 Blend door actuator
^^JDM only parts^^
4. Blower motor speed controller, i used the JDM S13 one, you can also use one "from a 92 Q45 but most mid 90's maxima with automatic climate control should work to"
5. Optional** JDM Thermo control amp ( i used the stock one with no modifications, not sure if it would change anything)
6. JDM aspirator tube(connects air box to cabin temp sensor) also from "mid 90's maxima with automatic climate control"
SENSORS
1. JDM Ambient air temp sensor ("you can get it from a 91 pathfinder and most mid 90's maxima"
2. JDM Cabin air temp sensor ("most mid 90's maxima")
3. JDM Sunload sensor ("most mid 90's maxima")
INSTALLATION
1. Wiring
The wiring for the DCC is very simple and can be done without any trouble. The only JDM wiring you need is the harness that plugs into the DCC unit. The sensors will plug into that and if you have the sensors with connectors it will make the install easier. There are 3 power wires and one ground that have to be spliced into the harness.
1. Constant +12v power. This wire is the single red wire with a single plug on the JDM DCC harness. I spliced this into the memory wire for the radio, it is Red/black stripe on the USDM chassis side of the radio harness.
http://img487.imageshack.us/img487/8734/usdmradioharnesstl3.jpg
2. Ignition on +12v power. This wire is Blue/Red stripe and is on the small 6 wire connector on the JDM DCC harness( see below ). I spliced it into a blue wire on the USDM Radio connector on the dash harness that has power with the ignition on.( see above)
http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/4916/dsc01114pm8.jpg
^^ 6 wire connector
http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/9449/6wireconnectorgt9.jpg
3. Ignition on +12v power. This wire is the Green/white stripe on the small 6 wire connector( see above). This wire can be disconnected at the 6 wire connector and re pinned into the large 16 pin connector( see below) in an empty spot. This spot has ignition on +12v that is already run the the USDM dash side so all you have to do is plug it in and it will work, no soldering.
http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/3163/16pinconncetores5.jpg
4. Ground wire. This is the last wire you have to run. On the USDM side of the 16pin climate control connector there is a Red/orange stripe wire that needs to be grounded.( see below) I cut the wire a few inches from the connector and attached a ground eyehook and bolted it to the dash frame.

Now you need to remove the bottom of the Air box in order to install the Aspirator tube for the cabin air temp sensor. This is very simple as well. I installed the DCC with the dash off and i think it makes it a lot easier to install. Here is the difference between the USDM and JDM airbox.
http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/757/airboxedityo7.jpg
JDM aspirator tube connected to the Air box
http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/7254/dsc01096sx3.jpg
Next you can install the Blower motor speed controller. You just unbolt the USDM one and bolt up the JDM one with no modification. It will plug right in as well the connector is just turned 90 degrees.
http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/9648/blowermotorspeededitqg3.jpg
Picture of difference, JDM on right, USDM on left. JDM is 3 wire and USDM is 4, but the connector will plug in.
http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/9696/dsc01092sv8.jpg
Mounting the Blend door (hot/cold)Actuator comes next. You have to make brackets to hold it in place of the USDM cable. I will outline this with pictures as they tell you everything you need to know

After you make the bracket and bolt the unit up you need to hook up the linkage. The JDM linkage is flipped from the way the USDM one screws in, the picture below will show exactly how it needs to be hooked up.
http://img74.imageshack.us/img74/7639/dsc01144mb3.jpg
^^ Picture taken from passanger floor^^
After this you have to notch the duct to send air the the passenger feet
http://img406.imageshack.us/img406/4936/dsc01141ni6.jpg
All that is left now is to install the sensors. My unit came with all the sensors with plugs so i only had to mount and connect the sensors to the JDM DCC harness with no wiring needed. Go to beatupsx's thread that is linked at the top of the page if you need to find out wiring colors.
1. Sunload sensor. For this sensor you have to cut a hole in the top vent plastic and clip the sensor into place. Once you have it mounted just connect up the wires to the harness and it should work.
http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/8864/dsc01153av4.jpg
2. Ambient Temp sensor. This sensor needs to be mounted in the grill area of the car and have wires run to the DCC unit.
3. Cabin air temp sensor. The cabin air temp sensor hooks into the end of the Aspirator tube that goes into the bottom of the airbox. You can mount this anywhere you think is a good spot. You need to attach it to any spot on the dash area and cut slits for it to pull air through.
http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/6421/dsc01155un5.jpg
After you hook up the sensors and bolt the unit in the car you will have a fully functioning JDM DCC!!!
http://img485.imageshack.us/img485/1441/dsc01152xz7.jpg
Write up is done, i will be reviewing and editing if anything is incorrect or confusing
Quoted from "Dammitboy"
"
To run a self-diagnostic for the DCC:
Turn engine on. Within 10 second of starting engine, press and hold ‘OFF’ button on the ACC for 5-10 seconds until all segments on the display light up.
Test 1- Display Test. Look for any missing segments or icons
Press Up arrow to get to Test 2.
Test 2 – Input signals from each sensor Wait a couple seconds and it’ll display error codes (20=all ok, 21=ambient, 22=in-vehicle, 24=intake, 25=sunload (test in sunlight to prevent this error), 26=PBR)
Press Up arrow to get to Test 3 or Down arrow to get to Test 1
Test 3 – Mode Door Motor This test takes a little longer. 30=all modes ok, 31=vent, 32=B/L, 33=B/L, 34=Foot/Def 1, 35=Foot/Def 2, 36=Def
Press Up arrow to get to Test 4 or Down arrow to get to Test 3
Test 4 – Actuators Test Pattern Toggle modes 41-46 by pressing defrost button on ACC.
Test 5 – Temperature Readings Press defrost button to toggle through sensors (ambient, in-vehicle, intake in that order). If the temp is -22, then that sensor is not working. The temperature can also be adjusted to compensate for differences between temp setting and the temp felt by driver. It can be adjusted 6 degrees up or down. While in Test 5, press the fan switch and then the temp adjustment can be made using the Up/Down arrows.
Hit Auto button or turn car off to exit self-diag."

i just pulled an un-cut DCC harness and all motors/actuators/sensors from my s13 silvia front clip and was very careful when pulling cuz i know how valuable it is, PM and make a valid offer, i also have the DCC control unit, but ummm, it's not pretty with the LED display, it appears to look like the USDM ones, but it's in celcius and umm there is an "auto" button.

There is an auto climate control that is not digital, sounds like thats what you have.
Also as far as getting parts from USDM cars i wrote that in quotes because i havent looked for any of that stuff so im not sure if the person who posted that was right, i used all JDM parts.

Excellent write up. I installed my DCC a while back using your write up and various other "how to's". I am having an issue with my fan motor and hoping someone can help me. The only thing I did not replace during the install is the Thermo control amp.
The problem: I cannot get the fan motor to turn on and cycle through the speeds.
I have tried 3 blower motor controllers and I am stumped. I can get the fan to come on HIGH if I take a wire and put one end in the top left and the other end in the bottom left wires of the blower motor controller plug. I am using the 3 wire JDM blower motor controller.
Do I have a bad DCC?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I know with the US Blower motor controller it will come on but only stay at one speed, that is what it sounds like your doing by jumping the connector. Did you just plug the Us connector in the JDM bmc?

DE,
Yes, I replaced the US BMC with the JDM BMC (I have tried 3 of them) and used the US plug. The only way I can get the motor to come on is if I shove a wire in the top left and bottom left on the US plug.
I ran the self diagnostic over the weekend and the only error I am getting is with the ambient air temp (21). I have not looked at that sensor yet to see what is going on.

I dont even have my ambient temp hooked up right now and everything works fine. All i can think is that the JDM bmc is broken. What do you mean by all 3? USDM, JDM, ???

I got my hands on 3 JDM BMC because I thought that was the problem. They were all used but I can't imagine all of them are defective.

I found out something new today. I looked at 2 93's and both use an actuator for the vent control door the is right in the way of where the hot cold door actuator needs to be. Im not sure what years had this, my 91 didn't, and i haven't seen anything about this in any other write up, but both 1993 240sx's i looked at today had it.

i remember reading in one of the writes up that the problem is caused by the sensor grounding. you can test by unbolting the sensor while its running, it should stop running at full blast.

Yes, you have to grind down the fins on the thermo sensor. In most cases the fins ground out on a line behind it and cause the blower to run full tilt.

Hey does anyone know why my vents dont cycle through. It worked for a couple month then it just started blowing through the bottom, it came back on for a couple weeks then it went out again.
When I did the diagnostics it came up with 31,32,34,35,36, on TEST 3.
Any help would be great, I have checked the wiring & fuses but nothing seems wrong.

In NOT talking about the blower, im talkin about the VENTS and how they transitions from feet to the front one on the dash and other vents.
When I did the diagnostics it came up with 31,32,34,35,36, on TEST 3.

Thats Simple diag to start.
Check the motor on the Driverside near the steering wheel...you need to see if that is moving when you select the position for air flow.Your new wiring should Have NOTHING TO DO W/ THAT motor.
Its located under the Lower dash panel where your knees would be while sitting.Over on the the right.Right where the Aspirator tube is hooked into the box.Check that.If it dosen't move then you need a new motor there.Might have took a shit.

No....not quite. There are 3-4 diff write ups...and all are diff.Beware.This is not as easy as some have had.
MANY variables involved.
This piticular How-to is Using more JDM parts than the other write ups.
Very tough install.I'm having very hard luck and have tried re-wiring just about every diff combination of ALL these how-to's.No one has Colaborated together to make 1 install.
Good luck to you sir.Hopefully your Luck will be w/ you when starting.
Also - No one will reply to any of the 3-4 write-up How to's.Its like a dead group of threads.Everyone is 'DOne" w/ them.

I GOT IT!!!! YESSSSSSSSSSS
Anyway I figured it out what I did wrong. It was a Def error on my part...and I am Planning a 1 write up on this To END ALL THE DRAMA on this deal with 3-4 diff write ups.Its gotta come to an end and it def is pretty simple.
Turns out I tapped the wrong end of the Blue/red wire from the 7 pin JDM harness for 12v ign.I tapped the end going to a "dead plug" pretty much.It so happens thats the wire that sends signal to the Blower rely to adjust fan speed. I knew I had it hooked up correctly because I was have 0 probelms that everyone else had.
NEW WRITE UP TO COME!
Thanks to all the actual makers...w/o you it really would be VERY hard to make work.

Its not a headache...espically after I write it up.
I Know NOW all the parts needed to do this and in What order etc.Half of these Guys Re-wired th ewhole damn dash for something so Simple..and I even did it w/o a damn Volt meter.ALl I had was a test light.:-/
Its def very simple as the others have posted.Much Props to them for figuring it out......but ALOT of stuff is Incomplete and Mis-information on some.
Even down to what side of the car to be on...some of that was missing and Took an extra Day just to figure out where they were working and on WHAT.
the Proper Names for items help too...I was getting so damn confused on What someone was calling 1 thing...someone else was calling it something else.

The HUGE misconception of this thread is that You are Using ALL The JDM parts including the BOX...it would def make it a tad eaiser. as well as Not Really Documenting What side of ther car your on.No Biggie though.
This is why the is a parts list in the beginning of the thread. It tells you what i used, the "JDM air box" is not listed.

calm down there "home Skillet" .
1st off - Much props to you sir for doing this...Yours is actually what I went by..I was commenting on yours BUT, all the others (write-ups) Mostly.
I was lost @ 1st because I couldn't even tell what side of the car from the pic's because I've NEVER been under the Dash on my Nissan. That was tricky.
I had a Wire tapped that was "dead".It didn't lead to anything and thats why mine was FULL blast @ 1st.
Parts are Simple and Wiring is Simple of course..Now that I've done it.
I'll get mine up and running soon.people obviously have been Fine w/ the ones avail so far.
Big Props to you though.

just finnished my dcc install this week, and everything is working perfict. the only issue i had was when it came to the plenum door actuator http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/805/dsc01137ak2.jpg
mine came without the linkage. so i just used the likage from an extra s13 door handle with a little modification, it worked fine.

I ended up buying another Blend door motor w/ the linkage as a spare..just incase mine wants to take a shit..I'll have one....but I don't feel like trying to mount that damn thing since mine is perfect now.

Ok let's bring this back up to the top. I thought I was golden when I finished everything but I guess not. Installed the DCC with all sensors required and door actuator with linkage. Unit powers up and cycles through all modes visually no problems minus some burned out bulbs. Hot/Cold actuator moves, or at least I thought it was moving when I put my hand under the heatercore. Blower motor does not work at all with fan selection. I have the JDM blower motor speed control but USDM thermostat control amp.
When I enter diagnostic mode:
**--** TEST 3, codes (31) (32) (34) (35) (36) see below
**--** TEST 4, the actuator doesn't move when cycling through the vents. It worked before, I haven't messed with that part of the harness and now it doesn't work.
Here are pictures of each step of wiring I did according to driftenthusiast's writeup.
This is my first step. Red wire is for "Constant +12v power" to DCC harness. Blue wire is for "Ignition on +12v power". All wires have either been de-pinned and soldered or re-pinned.
http://home.comcast.net/~skunk.werkz/DSCF0005.JPG
2.) Ignition on +12v power. This wire is Blue/Red stripe and is on the small 6 wire connector on the JDM DCC harness. I spliced it into a blue wire on the USDM Radio connector on the dash harness that has power with the ignition on.
http://home.comcast.net/~skunk.werkz/DSCF0007.JPG
http://home.comcast.net/~skunk.werkz/DSCF0009.JPG
3.) Ignition on +12v power. This wire is the Green/white stripe on the small 6 wire connector. This wire can be disconnected at the 6 wire connector and re-pinned into the large 16 pin connector within an empty spot. This spot has ignition on +12v that is already run the the USDM dash side so all you have to do is plug it in and it will work, no soldering.
http://home.comcast.net/~skunk.werkz/DSCF0006.JPG
4.) Ground wire. This is the last wire you have to run. On the USDM side of the 16pin climate control connector there is a Red/orange stripe wire that needs to be grounded. I cut the wire a few inches from the connector and attached a ground eyehook and bolted it to the dash frame.
http://home.comcast.net/~skunk.werkz/DSCF0015.JPG
Here I have left the JDM relay attached to digital control harness and removed USDM relay.

Plugs match but wiring does not.
It would probably not power up...if it did..might fry something or BLOW Wide open w/ no fan speed adjustment.

i left the factory one on from the get go.. the relay plug on the harness is just extra.. i tucked it back and didnt even worry about it.. but now i think i blend motor died on me... constant cold air...

i have a JDM blower motor speed controller with cut wire... and from my DCC harness i have 5 wires cut(purple/red spots, pink/red spots,orange/blue stripes/ red spots, pink/black stripes/red spots, pink/blue stripe/red spots...
can i just plug the USDM blower motor speed controller plug to the JDM blower motor.. does it work?
also for the DCC led swap, do i just get the 4 leds out from the back of the DCC controller and just buy the same led size then plug and play?
im not really good at wiring leds....

you have to use a jdm sensor. its been awhile but i dont remember rewiring anything on the sensor plug. the jdm sensor just plugged right in, the only thing is that you need to shorten the fins or else it will ground and stay at full speed.

Yes.
Wire it up like Shown and just don't bother Using/mounting the Servo motor.
My race car has it in there (had an Extra unit) w/ No A/C.All you need to do diff is Skip the Servo Damper motor and just keep the door OPEN,...so jam some paper under the lever that opens and closes the door and keep it open.
I have it Just For heat For Coolant Bleeding and Track temps,..as well as if I ever drive in the cold.

i know im reviving a bit of an old thread but i have a question pertaining to the subject of this post.
okay so i got a whole dcc with all wiring and all sensors. everything is still hooked up to the sub harness except for the outside ambient air temp sensor which is only connected to the connector with pigtail.
so my question is where does the sensor connect to on the sub harness?? both wires on the pigtail comming from the sensor connector are black.

Reviving this thread to add some info so it will be consolidated in one place for eternity.
Most of us don't get all the accesories for the DCC when we buy it...
I've found almost any mid 90's nissan with dcc (pathfinder,maxima,q45) blower speed resistor will work. It is the one on the left pictured. Cut it to the length of the stock one and the plug clips right in
http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u116/waxball88/7A960561-EC0F-45C5-B13E-208F1CB1AB3F_zpsydwzuhfz.jpg
Next is my LED DCC install; broadfield has a post without steps, he should receive the credit for this. (My pics)
First go to superbrightleds.com for 3mm leds, any color, and also buy some resistors. You will need 4 of each
Start by removing your stock leds
http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u116/waxball88/601612D7-C325-4931-8267-F12BBC4C86AE_zpsawqvk51n.jpg
Slide the new leds into place and wrap the short wire around the track (they make contact in the front obviously
http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u116/waxball88/057BD158-7148-4110-B745-300BDA45EF4C_zps6hr73mth.jpg
Now solder the resistor to the long wire of the led...be careful to leave enough slack to wrap through the track
http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u116/waxball88/A4DEF327-93F8-497F-88EB-2205DEB8F794_zpsxh2s9vau.jpg
Make sure the resistor wires are not contacting themselves; wrap the lead up through the track.

Simply screw back in, if they dont come one, turn the socket 180*
