new 240 with a ka. The car was running fine until i replaced the headgasket now the idle starts off fine and holds at about 1k but the drops off much lower and stays around 500rpm before kicking back up. also at a standstill the idle will bounce up and down. If i turn my AC on it stabalizes the idle for the most part....I notice the bouncing idle and the drop off the most right after the engine has been under load...I was thinking bad MAF or maybe the IACV or a leak somewere from putting everything back together any one have any ideas?

since my idle comes on stronger with the AC on could it have to do with the belts? just looking for all the options

read the codes.
as for the idle
clean the iacv
if that doesn't work
raise the idle
if that doesn't work
start looking for something more serious
but start with the simple solutions

No it has nothing to do with the belts. The ECU bumps the idle up to 1000ish when the AC is on.
To replace the head gasket, you had to reset your ignition timing. Did you set it according to the FSM? Sounds like you might have a vac leak, build yourself a pressure tester and see what you can find..
