Putting a s13 ka24de into my s14. I am using the s13 motor and tranny, with the s14 intake and exhaust manifold.

Problem 1- When i bolt the cat up to the manifold, it hits on the bottom of the car chassis. I'm using the same s14 cat and manifold that were on the car before... What do i do to make the cat fit properly? Shouldn't it bolt up fine?

Question 2- The s14 trannies i have, have a metal and rubber piece that is circular, and is stuck to the end of the tranny(surrounds u joints of driveshaft). The s13 tranny has a different piece.... Are the trannies identical, allowing me to pry/pull the s13 piece out, and put the s14 piece in? How important is this little shield anyways?

Thanks in advance.

1- i ran into your same exact problem, i found out that the downpipe was actually from a SOHC S13, the S13 sohc and dohc downpipes look the same but are different
Get a KA24DE DOHC S13 downpipe

2- the trannies are identical, just s13 has 4 sensors opposed to the 3 on the s14 and that sensor on top of the bellhousing of the s14, my buddies s14 doesn't have that dust shield thing that you're talking about

*P.S. i forgot you said you bolted an s14 manifold on it, so i'm unsure, but on my friends s14 we used the s13 exhaust manifold..but the motorset came with a sohc downpipe and wouldn't bolt onto the cat/the cat hit the heatshield..

but on my s14 i did the same swap few months ago, s13 long block, jus swapped manifolds (intake/exhaust) and i had no problems with it bolting on

make sure you are using the s14 exhaust manifold. Its a 4-1 manifold. on the s13 dohc it goes 4-2-1.

with the transmission, use the s14 one. It has CAS on the top of the transmission.

Thats the wierd thing, i AM using the s14 manifold. It is the 4-1 manifold ( I took the 4-2-1, s13 manifold off). I am still hitting/not fitting correctly where the cat goes.

According to Indolent ^^^^, he did the exact same thing and it works fine...WTF?!

Thanks for the replies. Any other suggestions/tips would be much appriciated.

hmm, iirc, nismo motor mounts raise the motor up a little..

i'd assume something with the mounts, cause the ka's should mount the same, just recently did it on my s14 and my buddies s14 with no problems using the stock mounts

The dust collar on the transmission can be swapped over or just left off, you don't really need it.

R240NA- Thanks. I wasn't sure if that was just a dust collar or a "shield" in case something goes wrong with the u-joints.

Can you shed some light/give some ideas on my s13 longblock, s14 ex. manifold situation?

The only thing i can think of that is different, is a nismo tranny mount w/ insert. The engine mounts are stock. I have a s13 4-2-1, and the one on the car i am assuming is the s14 because its 4-1. Was there ever a s13, stock, 4-1 manifold made?

Take some pics. I dunno, just an idea. I put in a s13 dohc in my other s14 without any issues.

Agreed. The downpipe shouldn't have any fitment issues at all. A pic would help a lot in this situation.
