After my swap i added two quarts of Valvoline 75W-90 Gear Oil for API GL-5 or MT-1 applications and the TOB sticks, makes noise, whatever, i read gm synchromesh fixes that sometimes, the noise is minor and comes and goes, wondering if i should try a different fluid before removing the transmission.

you didnt grease the input shaft. use molybdenum

you didnt grease the input shaft. use molybdenumnah...so "molybdenum" on the input shaft would help? I'll probably try that + a different fluid depending on what people say...

the gear fluid doesnt touch the TOB. If it did, it would also touch the clutch, which wouldnt be good. If you dont grease it, it will make a noise. Hell I greased mine and it STILL makes a noise. Its a thing ive come to deal with.

um... prolly not. Your gonna have to drop the tranny.

yup, as said, TOB/clutch/all that is dry. Fluid choice can change the sound of the gearbox, a little... Greasing the input shaft is key, but I've found that no matter what I do it still makes a little noise.

hm, i'm gonna try to grease the input shaft from the dust boot cause i'm lazy :o thankyou for the advice.

edit: realized thats not gonna work so i'm in the process of removing the transmission...i probably should anyway to check the clutch and everything.

You are supposed to grease the part of the TOB that touches the clutch cover "fingers". I recommened using synthetic caliper lube. It does an amazing job over regular grease, and holds to higher temps.

+1 on that sexypanda... i have the same problem and it does not matter what kind of grease you use... (i've tried all of them) you'd still hear that noise....

its the wear and tear that builds up over time... i remedy it by bumping up the volume on my stereo...
